Why do dictators attack the justice system? Follow the money!

Follow the money to understand why dictators attack the justice system

Corruption is “the uniting force of dictators”

“… It’s a systemic threat undermining trust in democracy, and siphoning trillions of dollars in stolen funds from the global financial system.” – Axios

Follow the corruption and attacks on judges from ten dictators (and would be dictators) with this map. Can you spot:
– Which dictator had hidden 10 tons of gold in his bank vault?
– Which dictator called the country’s Supreme Court Justice a “son of a whore”?
– Who whined outside a court about the prosecution of his financial fraud schemes?
– Whic dictator’s ex-girlfriend held a top post at a Chinese construction firm that won a multimillion-dollar state contract?
– Which dictator shares a portion of illegal kickbacks with judges?

Banana Republic style justice

“Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro called for the Senate to bring charges against two Supreme Court justices, warning of an “institutional rupture” in his latest clash with the judiciary as investigations threaten him and his allies.

Supreme Court Justices Alexandre de Moraes had jailed the head of a party allied with Bolsanaro, the far-right president in a probe of online misinformation and anti-democratic threats. He opened a probe of Bolsonaro for posting confidential material on social media in his push to substantiate unproven allegation of election fraud. Bolsanaro called Justice Moraes him a “son of a whore.”

Facing the expanding legal probes and legislative defeat for his proposal to overhaul Brazil’s voting systems, Bolsonaro has already threatened to respond outside his constitutional limits. Bolsanaro took part in an unusual military display outside the presidential palace ahead of a key congressional vote. – Reuters

Banana Republican Party

Congressman Jamie Raskin said the GOP’s grammatical error was “as if every time we mentioned the other party, it just came out…like: ‘Oh, the Banana Republican Party,’ as if we were to say that every time we mentioned ‘the Banana Republican member’ or ‘the Banana Republican plan,’ or the ‘Banana Republican conference.’” (The term “banana republic” refers to a country that is corrupt and badly governed. – Letters From An American

Take Away: Stop Banana Republicans from converting American democracy into a banana republic. Call out Republican attacks on the American justice system.
