BADASS Briefing – January 11, 2024

5 mins read

Thursday, January 11, 2024

Dear Friends,

Women were in the house today! Hope you have seen some historic photos of the day. Don Scott was sworn in as the first Black Speaker of the oldest General Assembly in the nation. His speech was welcoming, warming and forward thinking. The Black Caucus now has a record number of members in the House and Senate and women are in the majority in both houses. Wow!

Please come down/up to a lobby day or two. Or just come on your own and make appointments with your legislators. Here’s the full schedule: Lobby Days Link.

Please enjoy the shortened version of the Briefing with a few of my favorite things coming up:

  • Virginia Grassroots Legislative Press Conference on the Friday Power Lunch
  • Virginia Grassroots Coalition’s Climate & Clean Energy Working Group Zoom Meeting – what could be more important?
  • DMV High School Voter Registration: Sharing Best Practices – A must for the future of democracy!
  • Support Elizabeth Guzman for Congress on January 27th with my favorite fundraiser, Nadja Golding!

ALL IN,

Stair
