Dictator’s Handbook To Attack Judges, Prosecutors And The Rule of Law

“Apparent ‘Swatting’ Incidents Target Judge and Prosecutor in Trump Election Case”

“The police were called to the homes of Judge Tanya S. Chutkan and the special counsel, Jack Smith, in separate incidents after false reports of shootings there… Swatting involves filing false reports to the police to set off a threatening or potentially dangerous response by officers. Incidents of swatting have become more common in recent years and have been used against various politicians and public figures.” – NY Times

A catalogue of Trump’s attacks on judges, prosecutors and witnesses

“As Trump faces gag orders, it’s worth emphasizing the scale, similarity and viciousness of his attacks… Trump’s attacks on judges, prosecutors, their staffs and potential witnesses against him — which have long tempted judges to issue such gag orders and are also the subject of a looming decision in another case — follow a familiar formula. The substance and even the words tend to be virtually the same, they’re generally baseless, and they’re often ugly.

Trump has now attacked more than a dozen key figures in the cases against him, which include four criminal indictments, the New York civil fraud trial and two matters involving the alleged sexual assault and defamation of writer E. Jean Carroll.” – Read the rest of this excellent article in the Washington Post

Endangering prosecutor’s lives

“Trump shared a link listing the home address of New York Attorney General Letitia James while accusing her of committing a “miscarriage of justice.” Trump’s smearing of James, the prosecutor behind his ongoing financial fraud trial, is nothing new. But his Truth Social link to a Substack post by far-right journalist Laura Loomer reportedly might raise a few issues.

In an attempted gotcha piece on James’ purchase of a home in Brooklyn, New York, Loomer posted documents that list the property’s address, information that would normally be redacted to protect the subject. In June, James said she had received death threats as she pursued the case against Trump…” – HuffPost

TakeAway: Unlike in a dictatorship, no-one is above law in a democracy. Let’s keep it that way. Vote for Democrats to restore the Rule of Law and faith in our courts.
