This week on the Friday Power Lunch we are going to talk about the intersection of policy, politics and gender. REGISTER
- Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger and candidate for VA Governor: Abigail Spanberger (CD7) announced her campaign for governor. Virginia has never had a woman governor. We will be talking to Congresswoman Spanberger about the 2024 election, the key issues she sees for 2023 and how they will resonate in CD7 and the role and importance of women in top political offices.
- Mara Elliott, the City Attorney for San Diego. Gun violence prevention is on the ballot this election. Did you know that there is a link between mass shooters and domestic violence? We will hear from a pioneer and national leader in addressing this connection. Mara Elliott is recognized as a pioneer and national leader in preventing gun violence through the use of red flag laws (GVROs) and is also known as an innovator in protecting victims of domestic violence.
- Dr. Bonnie Stabile, author: Women, Power and Rape Culture. To help us have a greater understanding of the issues of policy, politics, and gender, we are pleased to round out this conversation with Dr. Bonnie Stabile, Founder and Director of the Gender and Policy Center at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University.
