Friends,
This is important — late last week, Joe Manchin announced he would not be running for reelection in 2024. That gave Republicans a prime opportunity to pick up a Senate seat and win back the majority.
The stakes could not be higher. Republicans are feeling confident, but we have to show them that we have the strength to fire Josh Hawley and ensure Democrats keep the Senate majority.
Jay Ashcroft to appeal abortion ballot summary ruling
to Missouri Supreme Court
An appeals court ignored legal arguments, Ashcroft says, and the outcome ‘was a foregone conclusion’
Secretary of State Jay Aschcroft will try again to salvage the ballot summary he wrote for abortion rights initiative petitions with an appeal to the Missouri Supreme Court.
Ashcroft’s language has been savaged in opinions from two courts, most recently when the Western District Court of Appeals ruled his summaries are “replete with politically partisan language.”
In a Thursday interview with The Independent, Ashcroft said notice will be filed with the state’s highest court seeking a review of the Western District decision. The deadline for the appeal is Saturday.

Senator Joe Manchin said he’s not running for reelection, giving Republicans a better opportunity to flip the Senate, and we can’t let that happen.
Missouri must flip our Republican held Senate seat and Fire Josh Hawley – the most unpopular Senate Republican up for reelection.
To do this, we need to flip one Republican seat, and our eyes are on Josh Hawley’s. Hawley is unpopular, a traitor to Missouri families, and is leading the charge to roll back reproductive rights for all Americans. We need someone new to represent Missouri in Washington.

GOP Rep. Roy: “I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing that I can go campaign on and say we did. One! Come and explain to me one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done.”

NEWS

Two years ago, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – a once-in-a-generation investment in America’s infrastructure and competitiveness. Already, the Biden-Harris Administration is breaking ground and cutting ribbons on infrastructure projects across the country – unlocking access to economic opportunity, creating good-paying jobs, boosting domestic manufacturing, and growing America’s economy from the middle up and bottom out – not the top-down.
To date, the Administration has announced nearly $400 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding, including over 40,000 specific projects and awards, across over 4,500 communities in all 50 states, D.C., Tribes and the territories. We have enabled more than 21 million low-income households to access the internet through the Affordable Connectivity Program; started improvements on over 135,000 miles of roads, funded projects to replace hundreds of thousands of lead service lines; and launched seven world-class Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs with $50 billion of public and private sector investment – a historic leap forward in growing the clean energy economy across the nation.
All of these historic investments are transforming America’s economy and building a better America than ever before. Today, the Department of the Treasury is releasing a new analysis showing that thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the two-year increase in state and local capital investment as a share of GDP is the largest since 1979.
Treasury’s new analysis also shows that funding is going where it’s needed most across the country, as states with the lowest-rated public infrastructure are receiving more than twice as much funding per capita as states with the highest-rated infrastructure.
On top of this, the White House is releasing a new blog today showing that thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, construction employment is at an all-time high.
670,000 jobs have been added in the construction sector since the President took office. That means that employment in the construction sector has exceeded the pre-Great Recession high for the first time ever, and in October 2023, it set a new record high going back to when the data started in 1939.
The Biden-Harris Administration is ensuring that no community is left behind as we deliver historic infrastructure investment across the country, and as we go, we are spurring record investment from the private sector. That’s exactly why thanks to the President’s Investing in America agenda, companies have already announced over $614 billion in clean energy and manufacturing. Bidenomics is delivering an Infrastructure Decade.
