Resist Moms For Liberty At The Pinellas County School Board

Indivisible FL-13 Organizers Vickie Dunn and Cynthia Lippert attended the Florida For All Rally  held on July 1 when  new laws became effective. The March and Rally  was a collaboration by many grassroots groups which was inspiring. We also had Clean Water Petitions at our table.

One speaker was Brandt Robinson a Black History teacher from Pinellas County Schools.  He asked that  speakers supportive of the teaching of accurate history and  book availability be at every School Board meeting to speak during the public comment period. Moms For Liberty has personally and falsely accused Robinson of Bigotry. They are at every meeting and hold 2 seats on the current school board.  DeSantis has targeted 2 more seats for the next election.

We are hoping that our friends, including some previous teachers could attend the school board meetings for the rest of the year and be prepared with remarks supporting our School Board and educators who want to instruct our children.

The Pinellas County School Board meeting  schedule is below. Please come and invite others who have a common concern.

Board Meetings
September 26, 2023 10am
October 24, 2023 5pm

The Pinellas County School Board Building is at:

Largo, FL 33770

A New Ballot Measure for 2024: The Constitutional Right to Abortion Access

Ed Note: This issue is included again this week and will continue to be included in some form until abortion rights are on the Florida ballot.

As you may have seen in the news, the Florida reproductive rights movement is launching a ballot initiative campaign to protect access to abortion and ensure our personal medical decisions are ours and ours alone to make.

Time and time again, our state government has chosen to ignore the will of Floridians by passing increasingly restrictive laws to limit access to abortion.

Extremist legislators have done this despite polling — and election results — that have shown the majority of Florida voters support access to abortion. With this ballot initiative, Floridians will reclaim our right to control our medical decisions, our lives, and our futures.

To get on the ballot, more than 900,000 petition forms will need to be completed by Florida voters and the ballots must be from all parts of Florida. This is being organized by a new coalition “Floridians Protect Freedom” (FPF).

Instructions and training are available at the FPF web site.

Both Pinellas County Democratic Party offices will be Petitions Collection Hubs for FPF — both offices will be places to pick up blank petition forms and deliver completed ones.
