The MAGA War on Our Schools- Yolo County local action:

September 24, 1pm

The MAGA war on our schools is a deliberate effort by conservative political strategists to influence educational policies in line with their polarizing political objectives. They push for book bans, resist inclusive educational approaches, and inject politics into school board matters. It’s a nationwide strategy to attack education, and we’re seeing multiple attacks here in Yolo County. A Woodland school board member referred to transgender people as a “social contagion” and stated that the “normalization of transgender identity” has had “unintended consequences.”

This trustee, Emily MacDonald, needs to be recalled! Whether or not you live in the part of Woodland (mis)represented by this trustee, it is critical to send a message that Yolo County does not tolerate this type of bullying behavior by public officials. A recall petition has been started, and help is urgently needed to gather signatures before the six-week deadline. Please help by volunteering or donating at recallmacdonald.org. A special campaign event will be held on Sunday, September 24, 1 p.m. at Christiansen Park (corner of Beamer and Walnut Streets) where we will join the Recall campaign leaders, hear about the campaign, and then go out and spend some time knocking on the doors of voters likely to be supportive of the issue and tell them about the issue and the opportunity to sign the petition. Please consider joining this fun event.

Online phonebanks for Virginia- Sundays and Mondays

Sister District Yolo is running online phonebanks on Sundays from 2-4 pm PST and Mondays from 2-4 pm PST to call voters in Virginia. We talk to a real voter using an online script.

Virginia is the last state in the South with access to abortion. Voting rights, gun safety, climate solutions, and LGBTQ rights are also on the line.

Training is always available for first-timers or volunteers who need a refresher course. Your host will be Rebekka, Kelly, Amy, or Betsy, who will get you up and running quickly.

Dan is a co-host of Pod Save America, Former Senior Advisor to President Obama, writer of books e.g. “Battling The Big Lie,” and author of the “Message Box,” a Substack newsletter about politics from someone that works in politics.
