Hi, everyone!
ACTIONS!
One letter – 3 recipients. Tell them why single-payer health care reform is important to you.
NOTE: We learn so much when we do these actions. Groups like Moms for Liberty want to suppress knowledge of our nation’s history, when we should be concentrating on the lessons learned from it and making foundational changes.
One lesson, on how we get access to health care, now plays out in every home of minimal or middle-class means, due to the original racist and exclusionary roots of our insurance system.
It’s time for a revolution as transformative as the creation of Social Security and Medicare, but this time, nobody gets left out!

One letter – 3 uses! Make ALL your legislators braver!
– By Monday, 3:00 pm, email a letter to your Ventura City Councilmember, or all of them in support of a city resolution for Medicare for All. Use your own health care stories if you can to demonstrate that the current system isn’t working. (If you email before 7:00 am, it will be included in the board packet.)
NOTE: if you are not a Ventura resident, check the map link to similar efforts or for instructions on how to start one in your own community.
– Send that same letter to your STATE legislators and ask them to support SB-770 Health care: unified health care financing and AB-1690 – Universal health care coverage.
– Send that same letter to your federal legislators and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 3421/Sen: S. 1655 – Medicare for All Act

19 Republican state AGs demand out-of-state private medical records to hunt their residents down.

They are creating a Ministry of Fear for women and transgender people in GOP-controlled states, where every phone call, every internet interaction, every drive past a license plate reader, or face-to-face meeting with a person they thought they could trust, could end in a knock on the door from law enforcement.
And their attorneys general also want to track them as they obtain necessary medical care out-of-state, along with their friends and family, who may be prosecuted as well.
We can’t let this kind of abuse continue unchallenged!

GREAT READING!

If you are concerned by the reports that MR. Trump will get off by blaming his army of lawyers, read this very illuminating analysis of what that defense involves.

Heatwave Action Tips from the office of Assemblymember Steve Bennett, 38th District
Summer heat is descending upon the Central Coast, and we would like to remind you to prepare your household and loved ones for extreme heat.
Here are some tips for dealing with this summer’s extreme heat:
- Sign up for California ISO‘s Flex Alert notifications on their website, or by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
- Follow social media accounts for animal organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Humane Society and the ASPCA for helpful tips for protecting your pets.
- Keep items like cooling wraps around your home and vehicle and offer water to those in need.
- Check in on your neighbors, especially seniors and those with health conditions.
- See if you meet income guidelines for the California Public Utilities Commission‘s Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESA) to save money on the extra energy costs associated with extreme weather.
- Check the VC Emergency website for your nearest activated cooling center (centers below are activated as of July 12):
- Camarillo Public Library: 4101 Las Posas Road, Camarillo, CA 93010
- Thousand Oaks Goebel Adult Community Center: 1385 E Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362
- Thousand Oaks Grant R. Brimhall Library: 1401 E. Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362
- Newbury Park Branch Library: 2331 Borchard Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320
- Oaks Mall: 344 W Hillcrest Dr, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
- If your area has not activated a cooling center, public buildings, such as a local library, movie theater, and shopping mall may provide relief when temperatures rise.
You can follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) and check our website regularly for updates on these and other topics like rolling blackouts and more.
Stay safe,
Steve Bennett

Please DONATE to the cause!
Indivisible Ventura is completely volunteer run and your donation will support the direct costs of organizing in Ventura — things like expenses for Swap Meet Justice, posters, art supplies, stamps, transportation, and more! Although we’ve defeated Trump and taken back the Senate, we have to act urgently to save our democracy and enact other desperately needed reforms. Getting it done depends on all of us. Let’s stand together, indivisible. Indivisible Ventura is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country. Together, we will win. (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ven383907253)
