How to cut people from MEDICAID with red tape

Why do Republicans make it easy to get a gun, but really hard to get healthcare through Medicaid?

Millions of Americans are being cut from Medicaid through complex paperwork and bureaucracy. Florida, Texas and Arkansas have kicked the most people from Medicaid recently. Americans in need, seniors and young children are hurt the most.

The same Republican led states that cut taxes for billionaires, make it easy to get guns (without a permit) are using red tape to cut people from the Medicaid they depend on. What gives? Follow the dirty GOP tricks used to cut access to Medicaid to fund tax cuts for their billionaire donors in this infographic.

DeSantis cuts Medicaid in Florida

Biden’s White House furious as red states kick over 1 million people off Medicaid on paperwork technicalities. Florida’s in the lead. Florida has dropped several hundred thousand people, by far the most among states. “Pushing through things and rushing it will lead to eligible people — kids and families — losing coverage for some period of time,” Daniel Tsai, a top federal Medicaid official recently told reporters. – Fortune

Abbott cuts Medicaid in Texas

“400,000+ Texans kicked off Medicaid for ‘failure to respond’ to notices. Half a million more Texans are uninsured today than were in March. That’s because pandemic-era coverage benefits, which said people couldn’t get kicked off Medicaid during the health emergency, ended in April. “Most of those who lost coverage, these half-a-million folks, they’re very likely mostly children,” said Stacey Pogue, a senior policy director with Every Texan. She added that most people probably don’t even know they’re uninsured right now.” – Spectrum Local News

Huckabee Sanders cuts Medicaid in Arkansas

“Nearly 77,500 Arkansans lost Medicaid coverage in June because they either didn’t return information needed to determine their eligibility or were no longer eligible, the state Department of Human Services. The Arkansans include 47,426 whose coverage had been extended previously because of special eligibility rules during the federal covid-19 public health emergency and 30,042 others whose coverage was discontinued as part of normal operations…” – Arkansas Online

TakeAway: Getting healthcare is more important than getting a gun. Call your Republican Governor to demand they stop cutting people from Medicaid to fund their tax cuts to their billionaire donors.
