As you know, much of Central Vermont and other towns around the state are grappling with last week’s devastating flood. The businesses that were barely coming out of Covid now face massive rebuilding costs. People have lost their homes and their livelihoods. Vermonters, as always, stepped up and looked past the chaos and focused on what we could do to help. This flood, the blistering heat in the Southwest, and severe weather conditions worldwide are the result of burning fossil fuels. As with so many of the problems we face, the solutions to the climate crisis can only happen with leaders committed to solving them.  While we sweep away the mud and start again, we can bring the same Vermonter energy and goodwill toward building a better future together. There is plenty to do.

The phone banks on the Lean Left website will no doubt help you—and our country—feel better. They ensure that

  • Southern women can access reproductive care in Virginia,
  • purged NC voters can re-register to vote,
  • there is a turnaround in lagging voter turnout in one key county in NC before 2024, and
  • Philly voters will know more about how to vote by mail.

Find joy. Make some calls today. Get the scoop and sign up here: Lean Left Vermont Actions.

Write Postcards

Several studies have shown that writing postcards is effective in turning out voters when it is in combination with canvassing, phone banking, and texting. When all these methods happen at the same time, we reach more voters.

Reclaim Our Vote will launch their Virginia postcard campaign August 1st. Postcards will be held, then mailed between Sept 8 and Oct 25. More details to come after July 30, but, as usual, this drive will require ROV postcards so be sure to stock up now! Order larger batches of ROV postcards here; or you can order smaller batches here.

Lean Left will be WDEV’s guest on Vermont Viewpoint with Kevin Ellis, Wednesday, July 19 at 9 am. Tune into the radio broadcast live online at https://player.listenlive.co/67961 (click the Play button in the green bar at the top of the page)
