MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE - JANUARY 28: Demonstrators protest the death of Tyre Nichols on January 28, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee. The release of a video depicting the fatal beating of Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, sparked protests in cities throughout the country. Nichols was violently beaten for three minutes and killed by Memphis police officers earlier this month after a traffic stop. Five Black Memphis Police officers have been fired after an internal investigation found them to be “directly responsible” for the beating and have been charged with “second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct and one charge of official oppression.” (Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

Pennsylvania Democrats in the House pass protections for the LGBTQ+ community!

Majority matters as evidenced by the PA House’s passage of the “Fairness Act” – an historic and long-awaited bill that will finally grant statewide anti-discrimination protections to LGBTQ+ people! HB 300 prohibits discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression. Now it must pass the Senate and we need your help to make sure that happens!

In Pennsylvania, people who identify as LGBTQ+ are currently not protected from being denied housing, education, or access to public accommodations simply because of who they are or who they love.

Pennsylvania’s lack of a comprehensive anti-discrimination law is an embarrassment and a deterrent for workers and businesses who could help grow our economy.

We MUST let the PA Senate know that it is well past time that Pennsylvania join the 22 other states in our nation that welcome and protect LGBTQ+ people.

Under this bill LGBTQ+ people can no longer be denied housing, education, or access to public accommodations based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

PETITION: Ban Assault Weapons!

Thoughts and prayers don’t work without policy and change.

Join Turn PA Blue and sign the petition urging Congress to ban assault weapons!

The United States is on pace to set a record for mass shootings. According to Mass Shooting Tracker, there have been at least 324 mass shootings so far in 2023, a disturbing milestone due to our nation’s inaction.

The deadliest acts of murder all share one feature – the killer used an assault-style weapon or a firearm with a high-capacity magazine.

Prohibiting assault weapons can prevent mass shooting injuries and deaths.

Add your name to the petition demanding that Congress ban assault weapons.

There is no valid recreational use for the AR-15 which has up to four times the muzzle velocity of a handgun round, making it catastrophic when shot into a person.

A Fox News poll found that 61% of registered voters want a ban on assault weapons. Eighty-four percent of Democrats favor banning assault weapons, while only thirty-six percent of Republicans do.

Assault weapons bans are associated with a lower likelihood of an active shooter event. Under a ban, it is estimated that we would see 70 percent fewer mass shooting deaths.
