What’s At Stake in Virginia this year?
Virginia is where it’s at this November. All 140 state legislative seats are on the ballot: 100 House of Delegates seats and 40 State Senate seats. Currently, there’s a 21-19 pro-reproductive rights majority in the Senate and a 52-48 anti-abortion majority in the House. Given Governor Youngkin has said he would “happily and gleefully” sign any anti-abortion legislation that gets to his desk, Virginia Democrats must ensure they win pro-reproductive majorities in both Houses this November.
Maintaining abortion access in Virginia is critical for the entire southeastern United States, where 19 states have eliminated all or some abortions. Your donation to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia will support paid canvassers in the swingy Richmond area, where some of the best opportunities to flip seats can be found. Door knocking will be crucial to turn out voters who don’t always vote in off-year elections but who care deeply about reproductive rights.

Update on NC fundraising
Lean Left’s May fundraising for Put NC First culminated in a wildly successful event featuring Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Jessica Craven (Chop Wood, Carry Water), and Jessica Laurenz of the beneficiary organization Put NC First. Lean Left joined eight co-sponsoring groups from around the country and more than 260 event attendees to raise a whopping $400,000 for desperately needed, on-the-ground field programs that will be in place well ahead of the 2024 election. When we all give together, we can make a significant contribution!
