Lean Left’s
April Beneficiary
Last week in Tennessee, Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, two young African-American members of the House of Representatives, and a white Representative, Gloria Johnson, led a protest to demand gun-control legislation after the mass shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.
The courage of these young representatives to stand up against a Republican-dominated legislature and speak truth to power is a potent example of what can happen when strong, quality young candidates are elected to office.
Our April beneficiary is dedicated to making this happen. Run for Something recruits, trains, and supports diverse young people (under 40) to run for office — as school board members, county executives, local council members, and state-level legislators. This down-ballot strategy succeeds in helping young people “ladder up to winning bigger offices in red states.”
