Women have been shaking the table in Virginia for awhile. Remember when we flipped 15 seats, in 2017 and that 11 were women? Lesson learned that women make a huge difference!
Join this week’s Friday’s Power Lunch to meet some of the powerful Democratic women who fight for our values in Richmond. We’ll talk not only about how they gained power, but importantly, how we will expand our power in November and beyond.
We need more candidates across the state and time is of the essence! If you are interested in helping recruit candidates, join Red2Blue and Rural GroundGame to learn how to best recruit, and join a volunteer team to identify prospective candidates. For more info and to take part in a brief training, email Debra Taylor: doctordeb1959@gmail.co
Let’s continue to elect more women in 2023 by encouraging all qualified candidates to apply for endorsement by the National Women’s Political Caucus, Virginia (NWPC-VA).
One of the most important ways you can help elect more women and other strong Democratic candidates is by attending the 7th Annual Women’s Summit, ALL IN to Win Virginia. EARLY BIRD ENDS AT MIDNIGHT. You will meet candidates and allies from all over the state. The Summit is a priceless opportunity to make connections, learn from each other, and turn up the volume as we fight for victory on Election Night. BE IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS ON JULY 22 AND 23!
ALL IN,
Stair

Women Shaking the Table in Virginia Politics
March 31, 2023, Noon
For our big finish to Women’s History Month, we are celebrating the historic strides women are making in Virginia politics. Join us as we shake the table with conversations with some badass women we are lucky to have as our elected officials.
We will start by talking to two history makers: Delegate Vivian Watts, the longest serving woman in the Virginia House of Delegate and Delegate Eileen Filler-Corn, the first woman and Jewish Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Next, we will be joined by members of the historic class of 2017 when the grassroots helped flip 15 seats: Delegates Karrie Delaney, Elizabeth Guzman and Kathy Tran.
In 2019, Democrats took control of the Virginia State Government for the first time in 25 years. To help us remember that exciting and historic time we will be joined by Senator Ghazala Hashmi and Delegate Shelly Simonds who were both elected that year.
In 2021, two special elections brought two powerhouse women into the General Assembly: Delegates Candi King and Angelia Graves.
And in 2022, the millennials entered the House of Delegates in force. We will be joined by some of these newest rock stars: Delegates Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, Jackie Glass, Briana Sewell and Irene Shin
