Keeping Democracy Rolling

3 mins read

To build a stronger, more just democracy by empowering Vermont activists to work on behalf of voters in other states. We promote meaningful, sustained actions that focus on supporting and protecting the vote and building democratic power at the local, state, and federal levels.

Why Wisconsin now? Millions of dollars are flowing into the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, as the state rockets toward an election that could decide the future of abortion rights, redistricting and more in this key battleground state. The court has a 4-3 conservative majority. The April 4 election could flip that dynamic to a liberal-leaning majority.

Voter Protection: Wisconsin poll observers will be the eyes and ears at polling locations on April 4. We have a month to help recruit poll observers for the state Supreme Court election so voters can safely and easily cast their ballots. These are some of the easiest and most rewarding calls you can make!  All you need is your phone and a computer (laptop or desktop, not a tablet). Organizers offer training and provide the script at every phone bank on Zoom! You will receive a Zoom link in the confirmation email. (NOTE: all times are Central time; multiple days/times available). SIGN UP HERE!

Postcards: We are writing to Wisconsin voters with Reclaim Our Vote/Center for Common Ground. All the details of this drive—including how to sign up to receive addresses, messaging, and more— can be found here.

As one of a few social justice groups organizing a deep and multiracial base across Wisconsin, Citizen Action employs a strategy of grassroots organizing, educational programming, earned media, civic engagement, and political lobbying to advance progressive solutions.

Through a highly democratic process, the organization’s membership is backing Judge Janet Protasiewicz, who is running against ultra-MAGA Daniel Kelly for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The organization is picking up the pace and talking directly to voters at their doors and on their phones. Our dollars will help support their efforts to turn out the vote on April 4th.

Lean Left Vermont works to elect Democrats and Progressives in key states around the nation. We empower Vermonters to engage in strategic, targeted actions that will flip congressional and state-level seats from red to blue, or keep seats blue.
