Expel George Santos, end unnecessary traffic stops, protect asylum, and more

Contact all members of Congress:

Contact White House or other federal agencies:

  • EXPEL GEORGE SANTOS

With more lies and outrages from Rep. George Santos (R-NY) piling up every day and Republican leadership refusing to take action, House Democrats are stepping up. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and freshman members led by Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) have unveiled a resolution expelling Santos from the body. While this measure has a high bar of two-thirds of members to clear, it sends a clear message that this con artist does not belong on Capitol Hill. Let’s contact our members of Congress and ask them to sign on to the expulsion resolution.

  • STOP THE PROPOSED THIRD-COUNTRY ASYLUM TRANSIT BAN
The Biden administration has announced its intent to resurrect a Trump era policy that would ban asylum to anyone traveling through a third country. This is a violation of U.S. law which guarantees the right of any individual to apply for asylum, and favors those with resources (who can come directly by air) over the most vulnerable. Immigration advocates argue that the policy will lead to more family separations, and puts Black, Brown and LGBTQ people at more risk. Let’s tell the White House and the Department of Homeland Security (202-282-8495) that this is a repudiation of Biden’s campaign promises to restore a fair and just asylum system. And let’s ask our Democratic MoCs to put pressure on the administration to reverse course on this misguided policy.
  • FUTURE VOTERS ACTION WEEK
The Civics Center is offering a free, five-day virtual program to teach high school students how to run voter registration drives in their schools. Applications are due February 12. Let’s spread the word and encourage the young people in our lives to apply.
