MLK Day Labor Action

WCDP members joined labor leaders in defense of worker civil rights on MLK Day.
The National Action Network is bringing people together to protest Landmark Properties’ continued contracting with United Electric, who are accused of harboring serious racist violations in its workplaces. United Electric is a nonunion shop, and during a union organizing effort, truly horrifying levels of everyday racism came to light. The IBEW and other labor leaders are supporting civil rights lawsuits by these workers, independently of their union status.
Theresa Reid, WCDP Chair and many members of the Executive Board met up with Congresswoman Dingell, State Senators Sue Shink and Jeff Irwin, several State Reps, and most of the Ann Arbor City Council in support of IBEW and other union movement leaders such as Robert Mack, Ryan Hussey, Bob King, and Ian Robinson as well Rev. Charles Williams of the National Action Network.

For the second time in 6 years, a car has struck our building and ‘closed us down.’ Repairs are underway and we expect to reopen in 2 to 3 months.
