
New Year, New Legislature!
We’re excited to see our new legislators begin their session in Lansing– Democratic Representatives Brabec, Morgan, Wilson, Rheingans and Conlin all represent parts of Washtenaw County, along with Senators Shink and Irwin! Congratulations to all.

Building a New 6th Cd
The new CD 6 includes all of Washtenaw along with parts of Wayne County/Downriver, and we are so proud to be represented by Congresswoman Dingell. This new district is a great opportunity to build new relationships and organizing capacity across borders, beginning with this weekend’s convention.
First CD 6 Convention, this Saturday 1/14, 12 pm.
The 6th Congressional District Convention will convene virtually via Zoom on Saturday, January 14th at 12 pm. Please register using this form (6th C Convention Registration Form) at least 24 hours before the Convention. A zoom link will be sent to your email before the convention.
The Michigan Democratic Party will be holding its 2023 Spring Convention on February 11, 2023 at Huntington Place in Detroit. There will be a 6th Congressional District Caucus Meeting in the morning before the statewide meetings at Huntington Place. To vote at the Spring Convention, you must be a Democratic Party member at least 30 days prior to the Convention (Feb. 11). At the Spring Convention during the 6th Caucus, we will be having elections for leadership of the 6th Congressional District Club and the State Central members. If you seek to run for Chair or Vice Chair of the 6th Congressional District Club, you must declare your desire to run with MDP at least 30 days prior to the Spring Convention. January Membership Meeting- ICYMI
We heard from Judge Erane Washington and from Dan Kelly of the Delonis Shelter about the growing eviction crisis, as a shortage of affordable housing is pushing more people, including families, into the street. Lack of information is a factor- tenants often don’t know what help there is and how to access it. More on this next month.
Ian Robinson of the Huron Valley Area Labor Federation introduced us to an inspiring group of activists from many parts of the labor movement, as we consider how to build afresh the essential alliance of labor and the Democratic Party. Don’t miss it!

UM Student Housing in Ann Arbor has contracted for a new building with Landmark, a company where racist aggression in the workplace of the most vile sort has been a hallmark. The National Action Network is calling for determined protest.
