Tuesday Tidbits

11 mins read

I hope that you received yesterday’s Monday Mustdos.  I included all of the information that you need to help out today with our Special Elections.  I’m cheering and working for all of our candidates.

Now is the time to really begin to focus on our advocacy efforts, identifying our interests and our availability.  There are many great opportunities to lobby with others in Richmond and we will have legislative calls to action coming up as the session gets underway.  Please take the time now while you have a short list of actions where your help is needed. There will soon be a long list.

Please note that the Williamsburg JCC Indivisible will be hosting the Women’s March, Bigger Than Roe on the 50th Anniversary of Roe v Wade. We encourage all Virginians interested in reproductive rights to show their support in Williamsburg, January 22, 3pm. Let’s go big!

ALL IN,

Brand New Year 2023 – Big & Bold Together

We will start by talking about the Special Elections on January 10. We have the opportunity to add Democratic members to our Virginia Senate and House of Delegates. Candidates Aaron Rouse, SD 7, and Jade Harris, HD 24, will discuss how we can help them these final days before the election.

Then Luisa Boyarski from the Virginia Grassroots Coalition will address the upcoming legislative session and the importance of grassroots activists connecting with their legislators.

Clean Virginia will help us take a first look at 2023 legislation by spotlighting their energy affordability priority bills.

We will round out the show with a rapid fire look at some of the citizen lobby days* in Richmond over the next few weeks. A full list of these January events will be provided. To give us a preview of what we can expect, we will be joined by the following organizations:

  • Susan Loesberg (Co-Lead, Moms Demand Action Virginia Beach-Norfolk) – Moms Demand Action Virginia Lobby Day – January 13
  • Kim Bobo (Executive Director, Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy) – Advocate for Social Justice – January 18
  • Heidi Drauschak – VA Democracy Day for Good Governance – January 24
  • Cassady Craighill (Deputy Director, Clean Virginia) – Day of Action for Affordable Energy – January 26
