Software to shovel George Santos’ bullshit

The way to deal with the media is to flood the zone with shit – Steve Bannon

George Santos (R-NY) has adopted Bannon’s advice and lies blatantly to get elected. How do you deal with lies claiming to be Christian/Jew, Gay/Straight …?

The Republican strategy is based on making it hard for people to get the facts by burying it in a pile of BS. People are busy and struggle with searching for information across different sites. What’s needed is a way to collect, organize and share information from different sources – online, YouTube, Twitter… and make it easy to search and share.

Kumu is a free app which is ideal for this purpose. This map, for instance covers fifteen Santos’ lies that span his religion, race, sexual orientation, education and work history. The lies are also split into five categories: campaign financing, ethics, values and family and personal.

“Flood the zone with shit”

“The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit,” Bannon told author Michael Lewis. When you continually find yourself in a room that is on fire, at some point you should figure out who is the arsonist.

That’s because while some right-wing media are institutions in their own right (Fox Corp., Sinclair Broadcast Group, Salem Radio Network, etc.), Bannon’s approach is to essentially burn institutions to the ground, wherever they may be. As author Douglas Rushkoff put it in a recent essay about why he would not go on Bannon’s show, “Inflammation is the name of Bannon’s accelerationist game, after all: Get people on all sides angry, bring about the civil war or mega-conflict, let them burn it all down, and start fresh with something more local, human, and natural.” – Media Matters

TakeAway: Use technology such as the free Kumu app to counter BS and expose the truth. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Especially for bullshit.
