Help still needed in Nevada for election protection work
An August, 2022, House Oversight Committee investigation uncovered that “coordinated campaigns of election disinformation are disrupting the crucial work of local election officials, subjecting these Americans to violent threats, and overwhelming the limited resources available to provide accurate information to voters and protect the integrity of our democratic system.”
The Nevada Democratic Victory campaign is recruiting poll and count observers. After training, poll observers do the traditional work to monitor precincts, report any problems to a centralized “boiler room,” and try to help voters who might be facing difficulties in being allowed to vote. This year, election officials have told the campaign that the right wing harassment was much reduced when Democratic poll observers were present at the primary election, and they appreciate our presence. Count observers will be part of a team watching the election officials conduct the vote count.
To volunteer to work as a poll or count observer in Nevada, fill out this form and you will be contacted: https://ndv.vote/vopro.
Training will be held in mid-October and early in-person voting starts October 22. Members of Indivisible Yolo have experience and can answer any questions you have about volunteering at the polls in Nevada. For more information, email indivisibleyolo@gmail.com.
