We need executive actions on climate and on abortion access
Hi Indivisibles: Time for Biden to declare climate and health emergencies:
Last month the Supreme Court ruled the EPA could not force existing power plants to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. Then last Friday, Joe Manchin pulled out of negotiations on a slimmed down climate investment and repeal of the Trump tax credits for the really rich. We were outraged. If there’s a silver lining, it’s simply that Biden no longer has any excuse NOT to issue an Executive Order declaring a climate emergency. He can’t fix the filibuster but he can act aggressively on his promised climate agenda. It’s time to call the White House hotline and demand the President declare a climate emergency NOW!
The reversal of Roe is a public health emergency
The reversal of Roe v. Wade has created a public health crisis. Last week, we asked our Senators to tell Biden he must declare a public health emergency and address this with the urgency it deserves. We’re happy to say that BOTH Sen. Feinstein and Sen. Padilla were among the 18 Senators who have called on the Biden administration to declare a national public health emergency on reproductive rights. There’s still more to do! The Congressional Progressive Caucus made a list of executive actions President Biden could take to protect abortion access. We’re thanking our Senators for what they’ve done so far- and asking them to press Biden to do more, including implementing the CPC’s list of recommended executive actions.

P.S.: In the flood of news lately, you might not have seen one of our recent successes. California SB 54- which will drastically reduce plastic waste- was just signed into law. This bill was one of Indivisible California State Strong’s priorities on environment. Thank you to the Indivisible Yolo members who worked hard to get it passed!
