Senior-to-Senior: Graduation Voter Registration Card – Third Act

Did you know that there is NO FORMAL PROCESS for asking young folks to register to vote? Sure, some are asked when they get a driver’s license, but many young people don’t drive! Not all are lucky enough to meet up with the League of Women Voter volunteers either. All teens who are 18 year old by voting day (June 7) and who are American citizens are eligible to vote in CA!That’s where high school graduations come in! Celebrate this major life milestone of a grandchild, relative, godchild or other special graduate in your life by sending them a graduation card with this print-at-home insert that includes a QR Code for registering to vote online (38 states allow online registration).

There is space to write your own personal well-wishes and to share why voting is so important to you. Maybe take them out to lunch! When you send celebratory cards PLEASE send the graduate to register to vote as well!

Suggestion – Take them with you to that restaurant you’re rewarding yourself with and talk politics and how it affects their lives – gun violence, school loans, access to information, eventually having affordable housing, etc…!

Friday/Sat./Sun./Mon./Tues – 06/02-6/2022 – CANVASSING IN VTA/Oxnard/Camarillo/TO – “CA: Canvass to Protect Our Drinking Water in Ventura” (Check times below)

Ventura County residents won big in 2020 when the county’s Board of Supervisors voted to close a loophole that has allowed oil companies to drill through water aquifers without environmental review. So many oil wells in the county have been drilled under this reckless loophole!

But now Big Oil is trying to undo our progress. READING: ForestWatch Urges Ventura County Residents to Vote “YES” on Measures A&B (

Corporations, like Aera Energy, have spent $6.5 million, hired out-of-county petitioners to gather tens of thousands of signatures, and put a referendum measure on the Ventura County ballot this June that could put our drinking water at risk.

We need your support to fight for safe water in Ventura County! Join us in Ventura to walk neighborhoods and talk to voters about why they should vote YES on A & B this June.

All canvassing opportunities (dates differ per location)

Weekends: 9-12, Weekdays 4-7 pm

Friday-Sunday – 06/03-05/2022 – WHERE YOU ARE – “WEAR ORANGE – We can end gun violence” (all day PT)

Many people have been asking, so if you feel compelled to action by the events in Texas, please consider the following actions:

1. Text READY to 644-33. This will connect you to Moms Demand Action- the largest gun violence prevention group in the country w 8M volunteers and more $$ than the NRA. It’s non-partisan and for men, women, very inclusive for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and gun-owners who are all trying to keep their families safe.

2. Do everything in your power to get THESE people OUT. They’ve pledged INaction on gun safety (even though 90% of all Americans want universal background checks) for the money the NRA has given their campaigns.

(NOTE FROM INDIVISIBLE VENTURA: Check the list in the link above. If you have friends and relatives who can vote for the listed elderly-&-child-massacre-apologists, make sure you ACTIVATE THEM!

Minimal message: I’m calling from [zip code] and Senator [___] doesn’t start listening to the voice of the people and vote for common-sense gun safety laws that will keep my family safe, instead of groveling in front of the gun lobby, I will personally work to vote [him/her] out.

Contact: Who is my representative/senator?:

3. Use THIS to find who to vote for who will actually fight extremists in the NRA and keep our families safe.

4. Find EVENTS at

5. June 3-5 is National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend and very nearly every major city has an event to honor survivors. Go to to find events.

6. Call your Senators and Representatives and ask them to pass gun sense laws- like universal background checks.

7. Donate $$ to Everytown.More information on ways to participate here (

Sunday – 06/05/2022 – ABOVE SANTA BARBARA – “Arroyo Burro Trailhead Microtrash Cleanup” (9:00 am – 12:00 pm PT)

Help remove old target shooting trash and lead ammunition from this beautiful area in the Santa Ynez Mountains.

Sign up to help us remove trash at and around the Arroyo Burro Trailhead along East Camino Cielo Road near Santa Barbara! The trailhead area is full of broken glass, bullets, bottles, and other trash left by illegal target shooting. We’re looking for volunteers to help us remove this trash to make area safer for hikers, dogs, and wildlife.
We’ll be meeting at 9 am on Sunday, June 5 at the trailhead along East Camino Cielo Road. It is next to the currently-closed Arroyo Burro Shooting Range (“Glass Factory”), but our cleanup will be taking place at a site on the other side of the road. You can find it here:

You’ll need to wear shoes and whatever clothes you would normally wear to go hiking, gardening, etc. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle or hydration pack. We’ll provide water, snacks, gloves, and any other supplies you may need.

We should be done by noon. Depending on how quickly we clean up the trailhead, there may be some time for an optional hike farther down the trail where you can learn about native plants and wildlife from our conservation director and naturalist who will be leading the cleanup.

Saturday – 06/11/2022 – THOUSAND OAKS – “NATIONWIDE – March for Our Lives (11:00 am) Starts at Westlake Village Promenade – Westlake & Thousand Oaks Blvd./March to Thousand Oaks Civics Arts Plaza.

MARCH FOR OUR LIVES: NOT ONE MORE – March Against Gun Violence. Event starts at Westlake Village Promenade (Westlake & Thousand Oaks Blvd.) and participants will march to Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

“Join us at the Westlake Promenade (corner of Westlake & Thousand Oaks Blvd.) to march to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza where a rally will be held.

In light of the tragedy at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, TX, March For Our Lives is demanding action by returning to our roots — it’s time for another March For Our Lives. Since we last marched for gun violence prevention in 2018, we passed lifesaving legislation in states across the country. It’s time to hit the streets once again.

We are calling for a March For Our Lives on Saturday, June 11 demanding that President Biden and lawmakers take action immediately to stop the gun violence epidemic. Organizers from across our chapters will be putting on local marches and the national organization will produce a high-impact, high-volume March in DC.

Our message and ask for this March is simple: no longer will we be held hostage by our lawmakers and no longer will we tolerate feeling unsafe in our communities. Regardless of what party you stand for, if you do not support lifesaving measures like universal background checks, we will pledge to vote against you this fall and in future elections.”

Gun violence is a national health emergency. Ask Biden and our legislators to treat it that way.

Did you know that there have been more mass shootings in 2022 than there are days that have passed?

We cannot do “thoughts & prayers” fast enough to keep up with the deaths and injuries. We also don’t believe the GOP’s claims that “mental illness” (treatment they refuse to fund, BTW) or “taking God out of the classroom” are the cause of all the violence, nor that arming teachers, “removing doors” or “arming everyone” is the cure.

What is? It’s time to do research, like we’ve done for every other issue that causes premature deaths.

Action #1: Tell our legislators to start listening to the nation’s health experts.
Action #2: Tell Biden to take emergency action.
Action #3: Call and email your legislators to pass the “Break the Cycle of Violence Act.“

“‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens.”

This one has been updated – SB-915 and SB-1384 are in committees next week.
FEDERAL – Action #1: Call your senators to pass H.R.8 and H.R. 1446. Then, more importantly, ask your friends and relatives with GOP senators to call theirs! Every day. Over and over. Make their phones ring off their desks!
STATE – Action #2: Call your assemblymembers to push SB-915 and SB-1384 through.
LOCAL – Action #3: Don’t vote for Republicans. For dogcatcher, for school board, for non-partisan positions. For nothing. Period.

Sunday – 06/05/2022 – ONLINE PHONE BANK – ”Voter Protection Phonebanks with Common Cause (3:00pm – 5:00pm PT)

We’re so excited to work together to demand bold changes to our democracy to create a government that represents all of us, not big corporations or special interests. We’re calling voters in New Hampshire to connect them with Gov. Sununu and encourage him to veto SB 418 and voters in Michigan to recruit them for events happening around their state. We also have an Our Democracy event once a week. These phonebanks are subject to change based on variables outside of our control (i.e. a Senator’s mailbox is full).

Sunday: Calling voters in Michigan to recruit them for events happening around their state. These shifts also always will include training for first-timers before you make calls – so if this is your first time, no worries! We’ll make sure you feel prepared before you begin.

You Can Make a Difference! Do you want to help Democrats win in the 2022 elections?  You can write Get Out The Vote (GOTV) postcards to help get Democratic voters to the polls!  Studies have shown that receiving a colorful postcard with a short punchy message is the most effective way to persuade a voter to get to the polls.

Indivisible Ventura is working with Postcards to Swing States (PSS) to coordinate GOTV postcarding focused on Senate races in swing states.  PSS identifies the campaigns, writes the message, and provides the voter names and addresses. We will provide the cards and, if needed, the stamps.

If you want to participate, please send an email to  We will add you our writer roster and email you a description of the campaigns we are currently running.  You decide which campaigns you want to join and specify the number of cards you want.  If you live locally, you may collect your supplies from my address in Ventura.  We can also will snail mail your packet to you. Resist every damn day!
