EVENTS
Saturday – 05/21/2022 – TEXT BANK – Send Texts to Protect Our Drinking Water in Ventura County” (9:00 am PT)

Big Oil wants to put their profits before public health. Companies like Aera Energy have spent millions to mislead voters.

We need your support to protect safe water in Ventura County by letting voters know that a YES vote on A & B will require that people’s health is considered before oil drilling in neighborhoods is approved.

Join us to text voters about why they should vote YES on A & B this June.

Sunday – 05/01/2022 – CANVASSING IN VTA/Camarillo/Oxnard – “CA: Canvass to Protect Our Drinking Water in Ventura” (9:00 am – 12:00 pm PT)

Ventura County residents won big in 2020 when the county’s Board of Supervisors voted to close a loophole that has allowed oil companies to drill through water aquifers without environmental review. So many oil wells in the county have been drilled under this reckless loophole!

But now Big Oil is trying to undo our progress.

Corporations, like Aera Energy, have spent $6.5 million, hired out-of-county petitioners to gather tens of thousands of signatures, and put a referendum measure on the Ventura County ballot this June that could put our drinking water at risk.

We need your support to fight for safe water in Ventura County!

Join us in Ventura to walk neighborhoods and talk to voters about why they should vote YES on A & B this June.

All canvassing opportunities (dates differ per location)

PHONEBANKS, TEXT BANKS, POSTCARDSSaturday – 05/21/2022 – PHONE BANK – ”Voter Protection Phonebanks with Common Cause” (9:00 am – 11:00 am, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm PT)

We’re so excited to work together to demand bold changes to our democracy to create a government that represents all of us, not big corporations or special interests. We’ll be calling voters in Florida to connect them to eight state senators and encourage them to vote against anti-voter legislation. We’re also beginning to advocate for No Excuse Absentee Voting in Delaware and recruit poll monitors for the Pennsylvania primary. These phonebanks are subject to change based on variables outside of our control (i.e. a Senator’s mailbox is full)

See the daily schedule at the link below.

Saturday: Calling Pennsylvania voters to recruit them to be poll monitors in the upcoming Pennsylvania primary.

These shifts also always will include training for first-timers before you make calls – so if this is your first time, no worries! We’ll make sure you feel prepared before you begin.

JOIN OUR POSTCARD BRIGADE!!

You Can Make a Difference! Do you want to help Democrats win in the 2022 elections?  You can write Get Out The Vote (GOTV) postcards to help get Democratic voters to the polls!  Studies have shown that receiving a colorful postcard with a short punchy message is the most effective way to persuade a voter to get to the polls.

Indivisible Ventura is working with Postcards to Swing States (PSS) to coordinate GOTV postcarding focused on Senate races in swing states.  PSS identifies the campaigns, writes the message, and provides the voter names and addresses. We will provide the cards and, if needed, the stamps.

If you want to participate, please send an email to ivpostcards@gmail.com.  We will add you our writer roster and email you a description of the campaigns we are currently running.  You decide which campaigns you want to join and specify the number of cards you want.  If you live locally, you may collect your supplies from my address in Ventura.  We can also will snail mail your packet to you. Resist every damn day!

FILL OUT YOUR BALLOT – Indivisible Ventura’s Voting Guide for the 2022 Primary Election

Still waiting for some endorsements to come through, but here’s a good start on our normal ridiculously long mix of research and snark for an election that will decide major issues for our future (“YES” on Measure A & B, our DA, sheriff, and more!) Democratic norms are under fire. Fight back with your ballot! https://indivisibleventura.org/2022/05/18/indivisible-venturas-voting-guide-for-the-2022-primary-election/

FIND YOUR FIVE – “The rally is over. Now what?”

The rally on Saturday was great! In fact, nobody wanted to go home! But eventually, we’re all back in our living rooms, and wondering what the heck to do next. We have some suggestions… https://indivisibleventura.org/2022/05/15/the-rally-is-over-now-what/

Please DONATE to the cause! DONATIONS DOUBLED THROUGH MAY 31 by INDIVISIBLE NATIONAL!!!

Indivisible Ventura is completely volunteer run and your donation will support the direct costs of organizing in Ventura — things like expenses for Swap Meet Justice, posters, art supplies, stamps, transportation, and more! Although we’ve defeated Trump and taken back the Senate, we have to act urgently to save our democracy and enact other desperately needed reforms. Getting it done depends on all of us. Let’s stand together, indivisible. Indivisible Ventura is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country. Together, we will win. (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ven383907253)
