When: Monday, May 23, at 12:00 pm HST and
every other Monday thru 2022

Please join Ray Markey, one of our active members, and the rest of us concerned citizens at Indivisible Hawaii. Join us to talk politics. It’s all about saving our Democracy and the soul of America. We want to hear what you have to say! Ray is currently on vacation, traveling on the mainland, so he has
asked two of our active members to host today’s program.

The topic for Monday’s program will be:

Our special
guest is Tania Guerrero, Project Attorney for the Catholic Legal
Immigration Network, the largest network of non-profit immigration activist
programs in the United States.

The topic for Monday, May 23rd’s program will be:

Refuting Anti-immigrant Myths

Walt Whitman wrote:
“All you continentals of Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, indifferent of place!
All you on the numberless islands of the archipelagoes of the sea!
All you of centuries hence when you listen to me!
All of you each and everywhere whom I specify not, but include just the same!
Health to you! Good will to you all, from me and America sent!
Each of us is inevitable,
Each of us is limitless- Each of us with his or her right upon the earth,
Each of us allow’d the eternal purports of the earth,
Each of us here as divinely as any is here.”
(“You, Whoever You Are”)

Contrary to myths promoted by nativist politicians, the facts clearly demonstrate the following truths:
Immigrants and refugees are necessary for the sustainability, growth, and cultural enrichment of our country; Anti-immigrant and anti-refugee narratives cause unjust discrimination and
unconscionable human suffering;

Our country’s laws must welcome and accommodate immigrants and refugees, recognizing their importance to our economy and culture, as well as the founding values and ideals of our country embedded in hospitality, not exclusion. “E pu pa’akai kakou.”
