Dear Friends,

There are Bans Off Our Bodies Rallies planned throughout Virginia and the nation on Saturday.  We must have our voices heard.  Please join a rally this weekend!

There is an upcoming fundraiser for Rep. Elaine Luria, our dynamic, twice-elected, yet most vulnerable Congressional candidate. As a member of the January 6th Committee, Rep. Luria has a Republican target on her back, and we cannot let them win.Check out the updates on the powerful – and empowering — Women’s Summit, ALL IN To Win VIRGINIA.

Let’s rally!

Saturday, May 14th, is the nationwide Bans Off Our Bodies day of action across the country.  There will be rallies in Richmond, several other Virginia cities, and Washington, DC.  For Information on nationwide rallies check here.

We have been hearing threats to overturn Roe v. Wade for years. In light of the draft opinion leaked last week, our worst fears are coming to pass. While Justice Alito’s language may change in the final opinion, the outcome is clear—the Supreme Court is ready to strike down Roe v. Wade. There will be no compromise, no mitigation in terms of how many weeks before an abortion is forbidden.

We are outraged, energized, and ready to fight back. While in Virginia abortion is legal and will continue to be legal or the foreseeable future after this decision is announced, we cannot be complacent as Governor Youngkin’s current statement makes clear. We will continue to fight with every ounce of our being to keep abortion legal and accessible. The official Supreme Court decision striking down Roe v. Wade hasn’t been issued yet -but we have the draft and we need to act NOW, not only to demonstrate that 80% of Americans support abortion access but also to show that we won’t back down. Join a Rally this Saturday!

Friends of We of Action (WofA), along with Virginia Democracy Forward (VADF), Dems to Go, and Indivisible Waterfront welcome Rep. Elaine Luria to a hybrid in-person/zoom event to be held  in McLean/Arlington. Rep. Luria plans to attend in person along with other local elected officials, including Sen. Barbara Favola, Del. Rip Sullivan, and Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano.  Rep. Elaine Luria is our dynamic, twice-elected —but most vulnerable– Democratic Congresswoman in Virginia.  Rep. Luria seeks reelection in her redistricted, Republican- leaning Tidewater jurisdiction. It is a very tough race.  As a retired, career Navy Commander who led numerous combat deployments, and a member of the January 6th Committee in Congress, Rep. Luria has the leadership, skills and grit to win this critical race if she has the right support.
