April 19 Candidates Forum – NWV to Announce New Location
Hundreds of people are already registered to attend tomorrow’s non-partisan IL-01 Candidates Forum organized by Neighbors Who Vote (NWV) – and you may be among them. This promises to be a lively and enlightening evening!
Because the original location suffered a fire just before the Easter holiday, NWV is getting ready to confirm a new location for the Tuesday, April 19, 7:00 pm Forum and plans to announce it tonight.
For the announcement of the new location for the Candidates Forum, please visit NWV’s Facebook Event page tonight. See also the NWV website.

See our Organizations & Opportunities section below to learn about the fire at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and how you can help.
Write Letters & Postcards – Have an Impact

Vote Forward Letters
Check out the many Vote Forward campaigns here – including some in Illinois, like Rep Lauren Underwood‘s district (IL-14). Make your choice!

ACT: Start writing: sign up now right here.
Postcards to Swing States
Write postcards to voters in key states with Postcards to Swing States, a Progressive Turnout Project effort. For some programs, you get postcards shipped to you; for others, you supply your own postcards. In all cases, you buy your own stamps.

Democrats Deliver: Write postcards to voters in key states to emphasize ways that the Democrats have delivered. For this program, you provide your own postcards and stamps. Vote Forward emails you a list of voters (minimum 100) and instructions, which will include the postcard script. Mail your postcards by May 31. Sign up here.
PA Primary: While the website has run out of PA postcards, here’s the good news: IC-SS Co-Leader Teri Watkins has a supply, and you can pick up postcards, addresses, and the script from her. Mailing date is May 6. To make arrangements, email Teri.

Support Rep Lauren Underwood!
Rep Lauren Underwood will run unopposed in the Democratic primary this June, but she is likely to face a fierce battle against a Republican challenger in November. Although Illinois’s redistricting may mean more Democratic voters in the new IL-14, we know that complacency can lead to defeat.
Bear in mind, also, that Rep Underwood will be new to a large swath of the redistricted 14th district, so it is vitally important that we work to get the word out. In short, Congresswoman Underwood’s campaign needs our help.

Rep Underwood’s top priority in Congress is ensuring access to high-quality, affordable health care for families and eliminating cost barriers to care – read about all her priorities. Ready to volunteer? Find opportunities to canvass or phonebank here.
Volunteer with Team Kina
Kina Collins will fight for IL-07 and all of us! Let’s fight for her now.

Endorsements
Kina Collins has been endorsed for Congress in IL-07 by Justice Democrats, NOW, Sunrise Movement, People’s Lobby, People’s Action, national Indivisible, Indivisible Chicago Alliance, Indivisible Chicago-South Side (us!), and many other local and national groups.
Our own endorsement was the result of an endorsement meeting convened for IC-SS voting members, followed by a decisive vote by our voting membership. Go, Kina!
