AAPI Equity Budget
The Westchester Asian American Democrats are sponsoring a letter writing campaign to Sen. Stewart-Cousins and Assemblywoman Amy Paulin in support of the $64mil AAPI Equity Budget. Sample below.
Email to: scousins@nysenate.gov PaulinA@nyassembly.govSample letter-Dear Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, I am a resident of _______ and writing to ask for your leadership in supporting the $64.5 million NYS AAPI Equity Budget, which was developed in partnership with more than 50 AAPI community-based organizations statewide. This budget aims to equitably and inclusively support AAPI New Yorkers—New York State’s fastest growing ethnic/racial group—and the organizations that serve them.In the face of unprecedented anti-Asian violence and the traumatic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic that has devastated our communities, AAPI New Yorkers can no longer be overlooked and our communities under-resourced. I join the New York AAPI coalition in calling for a pioneering and holistic investment by NY State through this $64.5 Million AAPI Equity Budget, which will address issues of systemic racism, discrimination, and historic under-investments toward our community. We urge you, as our Majority Leader, to please sign on to the $64.5 million AAPI Equity Budget. To sign onto the Senate letter of support, please contact Shiang Liu from Senator John Liu’s office atshiang@johnliusenate.com. We are counting on your support for the AAPI community.Thank you for all you do.NameCity, NY
