OK To Say Gay Rally

SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2022, 4 – 6 PM
Please join us on Saturday, March 12th from 4-6pm at St Pete City Hall in unified opposition to the “Don’t Say Gay” bills Florida HB 1557 & SB 1834.
The bills, if passed, would ban public school districts from encouraging classroom discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity, directly impact how teachers could provide instruction, suggests school faculty have the right to “out” students to their parents without consent, creates a new cause of action for lawsuits so any parent could sue a school district if they believe it “encouraged” inappropriate classroom discussions of sexual orientation or gender identity, silence students from discussing LGBTQ family members, friends, or neighbors and prevent LGBTQ students from speaking about their very existence, make students think it is wrong to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community and suppress them from accepting who they know they are, gives the message that LGBTQ+ people should not be accepted in society to other students –implicitly saying bullying queers is okay.
Speakers include Michele Rayner, State Rep and Candidate for Congress (CD-13) & Caprice Edmond, Pinellas County School Board Member, District 7.

Join The Pinellas County Democratic Party Voter Registration Team
From The Pinellas County Democratic Party:
We have 288 days until the General Election on November 8, 2022. This election will decide if Ron DeSantis continues his authoritarian rule over the citizens of the State of Florida and if he will run for president from a place of power as a second term governor of a state with the third highest number of Electoral votes in the nation. DeSantis must be stopped.
Republicans are still ahead in the number of registered voters and the numbers keep climbing. The gap has widened and they are currently 1411 registered voters ahead of us. We must do better. There are three ways you can help.
- Sign up for our “Closing The Gap” Voter Registration Team.
- Sign up for voter registration training.
- Contribute to our victory fund.
The Voter Registration Team will use a variety of methods to encourage citizens to take the first step in exercising their right to vote. Please consider joining others who have already stepped up to help.
