BUSY MONTH OF MARCH
As you have read in recent newsletters and emails, we have our biannual precinct reorganization on Saturday, March 26th at 10 AM, in conjunction with our county convention. Please fill out the survey through the button below by Thursday, March 24th, to sign up for precinct positions and to indicate interest in the contactless county convention.
In addition, the next few weeks will be filled with meetings and events of our area clubs, which you can read more about and sign up for in our “Upcoming Events” section below. As we prepare for the 2022 elections, now is a great time to get more involved in CCDP and your area club in particular. We encourage all of you to take advantage of these opportunities.
Finally, this month will also see the filing for all partisan offices for the 2022 elections. Filing begins next Tuesday, March 15th, at noon, and goes through March 30th at noon. This period is vital to our efforts over the next months. We remind all of you that if you or anyone you know is ready to make a difference in your community and run for office, do not hesitate to reach out!

TELL SENS. GRAHAM & SCOTT TO SUPPORT JUDGE JACKSON
Last Friday, President Joe Biden made the historic decision to nominate a respected jurist and former public defender, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, to fill the vacancy of the US Supreme Court created by Justice Stephen Breyer’s announced retirement. This nomination makes Judge Jackson the first African-American woman nominated to our nation’s highest court, a milestone that has taken far too long to occur, but must be celebrated nonetheless. Judge Jackson served as an editor on the Harvard Law Review, clerked for Justice Breyer, and has served on the federal judiciary for nearly nine years, currently serving on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. This historic nomination has received backing not just from Democrats, activists, and liberal groups, but also from prominent conservative legal voices, who have fully endorsed the nomination and highlighted Judge Jackson’s immense qualifications.
We want to encourage each and every one of you to email and call our two US Senators, Lindsey Graham (who voted to confirm Judge Jackson to the DC Circuit less than a year ago) and Tim Scott, to urge them to support the confirmation of Judge Jackson to the US Supreme Court.
Below you can find their information and basic sample emails. Please do not just copy and paste these samples emails. Make at least a small change early and another late in the letter. Identifying yourself by precinct is a good way to let them know you’re an informed voter. It’s on your voter registration card or at scvotes.org at “Check My Voter Registration.” Also, feel free to respond to this newsletter with any questions about urging support of this historic nomination.

THE COURAGE TO RUN & THE WILL TO SERVE
I am sure that as you read these words, an individual or individuals in your life pop into your mind. Whether that’s you, a loved one, your neighbor, or even your mail carrier, we want them to run! CCDP is ready and willing to introduce Charleston and South Carolina to a new group of Democratic leaders.
As you all know, we have elections in November at all levels of government, and filing for all partisan offices is between noon on March 15 and noon on March 30. Our communities need strong leaders who embody the values of the Democratic Party and are willing to fight for what is right. We recognize that it is a daunting prospect to put yourself forward for office, but we know that the Charleston Democratic community is filled with strong leaders who can create positive change in elected office. Furthermore, CCDP is filled with people eager to support these strong leaders’ runs!
If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. Electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. In addition to the SCDP information that you can access through the button below, here are more resources for women considering a run for office:
