Senate Republicans, with the eager help of Missouri Senators Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, blocked the advancement of the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act this week.
Hawley and Blunt voted against advancing legislation that would expand early and mail-in voting, ban partisan gerrymandering, and combat voter suppression, among other reforms.
The Missouri U.S. senators joined January 6 conspirators (or in Hawley’s case, openly praised them) and believe that the combination of conspiracy and obstruction will shake our commitment to these fundamental rights.

Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley have failed to stand up for our democracy.
But, the fight is not over. It serves as a reminder of the importance of 2022 elections. Missouri Democrats can send a strong and powerful Democratic voice to the U.S. Senate and help give President Biden and Vice President Harris the votes they need to pass voting rights legislation. We can show those who stand in the way of voting rights that their actions have consequences.
We will continue to organize, register, and educate voters on their rights.
In November, let’s put the Republican Party on notice. Let’s turn out in numbers they have never seen before. We are the “Show Me State,” so let’s show them that when you come for our votes, we fight back!
