Tomorrow, we will have our last monthly meeting of the year! We will do a wrap up of the fabulous Blue Jamboree 2021, the data team will talk about redistricting and what the new maps will mean for your district, and we will share more details about our winter holiday special!

Our regular meeting place in North Charleston City Hall has been closed for the remainder of the year, so we will meet virtually tomorrow at 6:30 PM. Please sign up through the button below to receive the Zoom link.

We will not have a newsletter next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday next Thursday. I know you will all miss seeing my name in your inbox next week.

Therefore, we want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for all of our wonderful volunteers, leadership, supporters, and Democratic elected officials. We are also grateful for all of the hard work that we know will be done in the next year to elect more Democrats!

It’s that time again! Time for our State House and Senate members to prefile bills. Prefiling is the process where a bill is introduced and sometimes referred to the appropriate committee prior to the start of the legislative session. So far this year, State House members have prefiled 74 bills, and State Senate members have prefiled 71.

Legislators prefile bills to help show the public what their priorities are as they head into the legislative session. This is your earliest chance to voice your opposition to those bills that don’t agree with your vision of the direction the state should head in.

These bills are formal legislative proposals which allow for legislators to co-sponsor the bill or opponents to build opposition to it. Bills prefiled before the official start of the legislative session will notmove within the legislature until the first day of session, which is January 11, 2022.

Prefiled bills from the legislators can be found here:

We urge you browse through the prefiled bills and educate yourself on what our legislators will be trying to accomplish this year.

This is the time for action! Call or write your legislators and let them know how you feel about their bills. We must let them know that we are watching and willing to get loud against bad bills and in favor of good ones. If you don’t know who your legislators are, you can look them up here:

The South Carolina State House and State Senate released draft maps for redistricting. Please take a look at these draft maps through the buttons below.

Our office is open, but not on November 24th due to Thanksgiving! We are in need of volunteers to work during office hours. Volunteers will prepare mailings, phone and/or text Bank, fill the blessing box, build Homeless Period Project packs and other tasks as needed.

Due to COVID-19, our office hours are limited. We will be open on most Wednesdays from 11-3 until further notice. You can sign up to volunteer through the button below.

Lowcountry Period Project Supplies Needed!
Did you know that our volunteers build period packs in support of the Homeless Period Project? If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. You may think that it is too early to start thinking about this, but electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. In addition to the SCDP information that you can access through the button below, here are more resources for women considering a run for office:
