This week we’re featuring the artwork of DemCast graphics team member @JoanneTrueBlue.

The week began with a celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a fairly new designated name in lieu of Columbus Day, which was endorsed by more than 100 cities.

William Shatner, TV’s Captain Kirk, had the ride of a lifetime on a real trip into space when he was aboard Blue Origin’s Shepard spacecraft.

We learned Social Security benefits will rise by 5.9%, the biggest increase in four decades.

Millions of people anxiously awaited word from the FDA regarding approval of Moderna and Pfizer booster shots, and by the end of the week, approval was granted. Check with your health care team to see if you qualify for a booster shot.

The Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol is moving forward to take action against individuals who refuse to comply with a subpoena, and the court battle over the 6-week abortion ban continues.

As always, it’s been a busy week of news. Thank you from all of us at DemCast for supporting our work. Stay healthy and safe!

DemCast is an advocacy-based 501(c)4 nonprofit. We have made the decision to build a media site free of outside influence. There are no ads. We do not get paid for clicks, but are sustained solely on donations from grassroots supporters. Because our revenue isn’t click-driven, we don’t take in any direct revenue from the creative contributions of grassroots activists who post on the site. This sets us apart from other media sites. And we’re proud of that.
