Today, September 6, Americans across the nation are celebrating Labor Day.
In recognition of this important holiday, Florida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz issued the following statement:
“To the degree that America is the wealthiest nation on earth, it owes much of its success and prosperity to the steadfastness, resourcefulness and industriousness of its workers. It is no different when it comes to the invaluable contribution of labor to our great state. Whether in our hospitals, agricultural fields, in hotels and restaurants, in construction sites or public service, in every possible field of human endeavor it’s workers who have built and who keep Florida running.
“Labor Day, however, is not just about honoring the contributions of today’s workers. It demands that we remember and honor the toil and the sacrifices of all those labor activists who sacrificed so much throughout history to secure so many of the rights we now take for granted. May their spirit inspire us as we continue to fight for the dignity, justice and fair compensation our nation’s great workers deserve.”
Statement from FDP Chair Honoring America’s and Florida’s Workers on Labor Day
Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.
Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.
That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.
From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
