90-Day Campaign for Voting Rights and Fair Taxation

This weekend the Coconino County Democratic Party launched an unprecedented campaign to overturn bad legislation passed by the GOP-controlled legislature in the session that ended in June. Our campaign supports the referenda sponsored by two organizations — Arizona Deserves Better and Invest in AZ. Please join our precinct committee members and volunteers in door-to-door canvassing and tabling events from now through the third week of September. The Arizona Constitution gives voters a powerful tool to stop bad legislation — but the work must be done quickly. There is no time to lose.

IRC Public Hearing in Coconino County

The fight against gerrymandering is coming to Coconino County at the end of this month. The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) is holding its Coconino County public hearing on Thursday, July 29, and they need to hear from you!

On Monday, July 26 join the Arizona Democratic Party, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, and Democrats and progressives from across Coconino for a Zoom session that will cover everything you need to know about this exciting chance to shape the future of Arizona elections. Sign up for admission to the training session here.  (There is currently a misstatement of the date of the public hearing in the first paragraph of this Mobilize link. As stated later in the link, the date is July 29, not the 28th. We expect ADP to correct this soon so you may not notice as you sign up.)

The in-person public hearing on July 29 begins at 5 pm (get there early to get a seat) at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff.  Remote participation in the hearing will be simultaneously available at Page City Hall and the Tuba City Chapter House.

This is our once-in-a-decade opportunity to make a major impact in the fight for fair elections. Fair elections cannot happen without fair congressional and legislative maps. We must keep gerrymandering OUT of Arizona!

July 4 with Us

Since we last wrote, we were in the Flagstaff 4th of July Parade, where we had a great reception from the crowd. Democratic officials and candidates who joined us: Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (who is running for Governor), Senator Jamescita Peshlakai (LD-7), Representative Jasmine  Blackwater-Nygren (LD-7), County Superintendent Cheryl-Mango Paget, and Justice of the Peace Howard Grodman.  Others who stopped by to say hello during the float assembly time: Marco Lopez, candidate for Governor, County Supervisors Patrice Horstman and Jeronimo Vasquez, and City Council Members Jim McCarthy, Miranda Sweet, and Becky Daggett. The campaigns of Rep. Reginald Bolding (running for Secretary of State) and Senator Mark Kelly and Congressman Tom O’Halleran were also represented by staff. We had fun. Check out our photos.

Save These Dates
