Davis Rally for Voting Rights- July 8 5:30 PM

Click here to go straight to the call scripts!

Hi Indivisibles,

The next few weeks are critical for passing S1, the For the People Act; especially so after the Supreme Court decision on Arizona voting rights last Wednesday. Indivisible and its allies in the Senate are asking for a massive show of grassroots force in order to influence the passage of S1 and have partnered with other progressive groups to create a national Deadline for Democracy campaign

We want to do our part here in Yolo County and CA District 3. Please sign up so we know you are coming and invite two friends to the Davis Rally for Voting Rights this Thursday July 8th at 5:30 p.m. at Congressman Garamendi’s office, 412 G St. in Davis.

We plan on a short/effective rally with signs, banners, a sound system and some great speakers including Kelly Wilkerson from Sister District CA-3, Koleika Seigle, Northern California President of the National Organization of Women, and, who knows, perhaps a surprise guest or two (still awaiting word from the Congressman’s office).

Some 20 Indivisible/Sister District CA3 volunteers attended the rally last Tuesday in Sacramento to send a loud and clear message to the Senate to pass S1, The For the People Act. Let’s double-down with a big crowd Thursday here in Davis. With a little help from Sister District CA-3 and other allies we hope to surpass the Sacramento event in size. Please wear a mask. Bring a sign or make one in advance at the Sister District table at the Davis Farmers Market on Wednesday. And don’t forget a hat and water. We’ll have a limited supply of signs and water at the event.

Hope to see you there!

A masked woman holds a sign reading "Protect my right to vote!! #ForThePeopleAct". Text on blue background: Deadline for Democracy. We are facing a make-or-break moment for S.1, the For the People Act. We need folks to mobilize like never before to show our senators there is overwhelming grassroots support for voting rights.

We hope we’ll see you at the Davis Rally for Voting Rights this Thursday July 8th at 5:30 p.m. at Congressman Garamendi’s office, 412 G St. in Davis. It’s make or break time for the For the People Act!

Keep calling: We MUST Pass S-1. Keep S-1 strong

Sample Call Script for Sen. Feinstein:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a California voter from [CITY, zip code] and I’m a member of Indivisible Yolo.

I am calling today to ensure that the Senate does not abandon voting rights!

We must pass S.1 – For the People Act. Letting the Republicans filibuster even debating the bill is unacceptable.

I’m calling to insist that Senator Feinstein do everything in her power to bring voting rights back to a vote as soon as the brief Senate recess is over. It’s now or never — and never can’t be the answer. We cannot let the filibuster prevent the essential elements of this act from becoming law.

Don’t let a minority of Senators use the filibuster diminish the rights of our most vulnerable voters. Thank you.

Sample Call Script for Sen. Padilla:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a California voter from [CITY, zip code].

I’m calling to thank Senator Padilla for his consistent support for S1- the For the People Act.

I urge the Senator to use his influence to keep the bill strong, don’t let it be stripped of key, very popular provisions, and get it passed in the Senate this month.

The Senate still needs to pass S1 to protect future Federal elections. This is no time to compromise Democracy!! Thank you.
