Central Valley Matters Fundraiser
Thursday, June 10th 5:00pm PT
“When a group of people get together, it’s collective power. You know that you’re doing it for the good.” – Dolores Huerta
Sign up for this week’s fundraising event, “Growing the Grassroots.” It directly supports three community-organizing groups focused on empowering under-represented people in the Central Valley.
Hear legendary Dolores Huerta, one of the most famous organizers in California history and co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, Ruth López, executive director of Valley Voices, and Reyes Uviedo, a canvasser with Valley Forward.
Each will share insights on engaging voters in the large, rural California Congressional District 21 (a toss-up district between Bakersfield and Fresno, now held by a Republican).
The Central Valley is critical to retaining and expanding Democratic control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022! Please share this event with your friends and family. You do not have to donate to attend. Come and be inspired! (Can’t attend? RSVP anyway and we’ll make sure you get the donation link).
Phone banking in CA and to Protect Voting Rights
For the first two Wednesdays in June we are focusing on California. Miss Getting Out The Vote (GOTV)? We’ll be calling CA-21 to register voters. We need texters too! We’ll be texting to California residents against the California governor recall.
On Saturdays, we call Arizona and West Virginia residents and patch them through to their Senators’ offices to support S1, For the People Act. State-by-state we have seen voter suppression bills introduced (and passed) so we need reform now! We will be using CallHub and HubDialer systems for this phonebank.
Our amazing team will help you log in, walk you through the process of making the calls, and answer all your questions. Your help does make a difference!
Seminar: Expanding the Supreme Court
Thursday, June 24th 6:00pm PT
Our joint speaker series continues with an important topic about the future of the Supreme Court. Should the Supreme Court be expanded or would it be too political? Join Swing Left Peninsula, Swing Left San Louis Obispo, and South Bay Swing Left in a discussion led by Professor Terri Peretti of Santa Clara University.
Postcard and Letter Writing Open-Air Meetup
Sunday, July 18th 1:00-3:00pm PT
Save the date! We will host an open-air open house for postcard and letter writers in Palo Alto. Volunteers can stop by to pick up small packets of letters and postcards, and say just hi. We miss your faces! More details to come.
Until then, consider writing postcards to Californians in swing districts with Activate America
