MI GOP Legislators Could Take Even MORE COVID PPP Aid for their Personal/Family Businesses While CONTINUING to Withhold $2.6 BILLION to Ordinary Michiganders
Since December, 2020, the MI GOP has been withholding billions of dollars in Federal COVID aid in order to push the Governor to relinquish her right to enact emergency orders in a pandemic. While these legislators play political games, they have deprived a growing number of Michiganders in need of earned unemployment benefits, housing, and food assistance.
We thought that was bad enough. We elect representatives to protect the people and to ensure our welfare – and we expect them to put OUR collective needs, not their private interests, first. Let the media know. Full details here.
New Covid Resources Page
In response to our speakers at the March membership meeting (catch it here if you missed it) we have been focusing on providing information to some of the underserved communities. A Rapid Response team got out flyers to around 1000 households on short notice, directing residents to a signup for the Wednesday popup clinic in West Willow, and will be ready to help with future popups.
The continued shortage of vaccines for the now-eligible general population is a great frustration for everyone, public and providers. We have created a new webpage centered around Covid resources, regularly updated on vaccine availability. It will also include information on the new American Rescue Plan funds and programs as they become available. Please share widely!
Louis Nagel is a distinguished professor and renowned concert pianist. We are more than thrilled that he is offering us this exceptional (virtual) event– refreshment for the soul as well as support for our work.
And we are also so excited and grateful that Governor Gretchen Whitmer will present the concert! More information here!
