The second impeachment trial is behind us and we are moving on to our full agenda. The House and Senate are on “district work sessions” this week which means they should be having town halls with members of their districts and states.

Senator Padilla will be holding a virtual town hall this Wednesday, Feb. 17th at 5pm (register here). Senator Feinstein will not. We will continue to demand Feinstein vote to remove the filibuster. Her staff says that she is beginning to waver and is paying attention to our calls and emails. We need to keep up the pressure.

And todayMonday, Feb. 15, 5:00pm, join the virtual FiliBUSTED event! Details for this event, as well as example call scripts and contact information for our members of Congress, are below. You can register here.

Check out our event calendar at for virtual events and actions, including Action Coffee on Mondays and the Fixing our Democracy Action Hour on Sundays at 2pm.

Our next virtual General Meeting is next Monday, Feb. 22nd. Save the date!

Mon, February 15, 5:00pm – 5:30pm
Now this will be fun. Gather with Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin, Indivisible Policy Director of Democracy Policy Meagan Hatcher-Mays and–especially!–other Indivisible activists in a bunch of Western states (including Indivisible Yolo co-founder Emily Hill) to tell Democratic Senators to stand firm and get bold to structurally change our government to secure our democracy. We can’t make the change we need if we allow the Jim Crow Filibuster to block every bill! Activists: after we hear from our guests, we’ll take direct action together. Hint: there will be prizes. Can’t wait to see you!

Here’s a photo from our special Valentines for Democracy event- what an amazing demonstration of both our creativity and our love for democracy. Thank you to everyone who participated!

We continue our Fixing Our Democracy Action Hour series Sundays at 2pm. We have a short window to save our democracy. Getting it done depends on all of us, and the new Indivisible guide provides a blueprint. Each hour of this six-week series has a “learn and do” format. First, organizers will lead a short discussion on a part of the new guide. Then, you’ll get directions on an easy action to take to persuade our elected officials to enact the key reforms in the guide.

The next meeting is 2pm Sunday. Slides, action scripts, a tally sheet to track your actions, and the Zoom link can be found at:

Tell our Senators: Eliminate the filibuster

Sample Call Script for Sen. Feinstein/Padilla:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, zip code]. I’m calling to urge Senator Feinstein/Padilla to take action in defense of our democracy.

I’m passionate about voting rights and DC statehood! Already Republican controlled state legislatures are introducing bills to restrict voting access. If we don’t eliminate the filibuster and pass HR1 and HR51, we may never get another chance to strengthen our Democracy. Thank you.

If you get a staffer: I would appreciate it if your office can get back to me on where Senator Feinstein/Padilla stands on this issue. My phone number is [phone number] and my email address is [email].

Tell our Representative How much HR51 and HR1 mean to you
(Note: only one of these 2 Congressmembers represents you. You can find out which one here)

Sample Call Script:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a constituent from [CITY, zip code].
I’m calling to thank Representative Garamendi/Matsui for cosponsoring the bills to make DC our 51st State (HR51), and the powerful For The People Act (HR1).
Policy is dear to my heart. I would love to see the congressman/congresswoman speak up boldly for these bills. Reps in more conservative areas might have to be quiet, but Garamendi/Matsui doesn’t!  Speaking up to help others is the strongest thing you can do to help save our Democracy!
I love Democracy. I’m glad to see you supporting legislation that will strengthen it. Thank you.

If you get a staffer: Please call or email me with his/her plans for passing HR1 and HR51. My phone number is [phone number] and my email address is [email].
