Corrected: Volunteer Opportunities for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Dear Friends—

As Democrats, we believe that everyone belongs in the “beloved community” that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed about. Service to others is one of the ways that we make that dream into a reality—that’s why I want to share the following volunteer opportunities to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King.

  • The City of Miami Gardens and Councilman Robert Stephens, III will hold an MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 18th from 10AM to 1PM. Mask, gloves, and lunch will be provided to volunteers. For more information or to volunteer, text 305-733-6922.
  • The Presidential Inaugural Committee will hold their own Day of Service on Monday, January 18th from 11AM to 2PM, giving away care packages to the homeless in downtown Miami. Volunteers can (but are not required to) bring items such as canned soup, canned meat, fingernail clippers and clothing. Meet across the street from Camillus House (1603 NW 7th Ave).
*a previous version mistakenly named Camillus House as the organizer*
  • On Friday, January 22nd at 1PM Mothers Fighting for Justice and the Miami Dolphins Foundation will conduct their Drive-Thru Food Relief Program. Please call Romania Dukes at 850-901-1553 to volunteer.

Dr. King preached a powerful message of hope for a more just world, and I hope that you’ll join me next week in service to bring us closer to realizing his vision. When you do, remember to tag the Miami-Dade Dems on social media so that we can recognize all of you who make our party great!

In solidarity,

Robert Dempster

Are you a sustaining donor? Even $5 a month makes a big difference.

The local Miami-Dade Democratic Party is a self-funded, membership-driven organization of dedicated volunteers.

Republican leadership has been a disaster for our state, and for our nation. In 2022 we will break the Republican stranglehold on Tallahassee by kicking Ron DeSantis out of office. While we’re at it, we’ll get Marco Rubio, one of Donald Trump’s biggest enablers, out of office and send a Democrat to represent us in the United States Senate instead. We can’t do that without you—support our work with a monthly donation of any amount here.
