We have no idea why Thursdays are always so crowded with activities…but today is packed, so let’s get started.
TODAY! IMPORTANT! If you were thinking you’d like to join Stacy Abrams’ FAIR FIGHT phone or text banks, you can get trained tomorrow. (Friday) at 3:00 pm: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_22qfM6I3TTavly6xxLwZ8g
You can also sign up with Flip the West’s phonebanks here, which are Sun-Thurs until Jan. 5! Training included. https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/362350/
We have a lot of other ways to support the Georgia runoff election, including phonebanks, and donations to candidates’ campaigns, Stacey Abram’s organization Fair Fight, the ACLU, NAACP, Galeo, The New Georgia Project, Black Lives Matter, of course, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice Atalnta. Go here to see the list and their links. tinyurl.com/Antiracist-events-Ventura. All listed on our site under the “Fair Fight” logo. tinyurl.com/Antiracist-events-Ventura
Our postcards to Georgia campaign is taking off, with people joining us from across the country. If you’ve never done postcards, it’s easy, and there are very complete instructions.https://indivisibleventura.org/2020/11/09/georgia-on-your-mind-write-gotv-postcards-to-their-voters/
You can also join the Vote Forward people, who are sending letters to Georgia voters. Most of the letter is already written and printed out, with a space for you to add your own personal encouragement to a voter. “Adopt” as many voters as you can easily do, here. https://votefwd.org/instructions
The New Georgia Project, a non-profit started by Stacey Abrams, is looking for help sending postcards to unregistered Georgians. Sign up here.
Learn about ballot curing and pick up phonebank shifts to help save people’s votes. GA and AZ are done now, but there are still efforts in battleground states. We also have some battles closer to home, with phonebank shifts available to help Christy Smith (now door-knocking too!), and Gil Cisneros (Also with door-knocking shifts). Shift and contact information for volunteering in our post. tinyurl.com/Antiracist-events-Ventura
5:00pm today: “Recommitting to Racial Justice” bit.ly/SURJ-11-12 “…Join SURJ and our partners at New Georgia Project and Political Research Associates to learn more about how white people can be showing up powerfully in this moment in partnership with POC-led organizing, including the Senate run-offs in Georgia.”
6:00pm today: “Don’t Sign, Don’t Move, Don’t Panic – Tenant Rights. Join the virtual training from the folks at the Ventura Tenants Union on tenants’ rights here: bit.ly/3opgdzn
We’ve updated the post on writing to the lawyers behind the what seems to be endless election lawsuits. Not only do these lawsuits erode people’s trust in our elections, but those who can’t discern between nuisance suits and “stealing elections” are escalating their online hostilities, as time stretches on without a decent concession speech from Trump. If this deliberately fomented violence crosses over into real life, we hold the GOP responsible. https://indivisibleventura.org/2020/11/10/tues-11-10-jones-day-hands-off-our-ballots-do-the-right-thing/
Join other resistance workers in a call to our own representatives in Congress to call a hearing with Trump-appointee GSA Administrator Emily Murphy. Biden needs to start getting security briefings now, especially since Trump is mowing a line through military and intelligence personnel who don’t play nice with him.
Check out upcoming events here and keep your resistance calendar updated. Sometimes we’re late getting this notice out, so get ahead of us here. https://indivisibleventura.org/events-having-tomorrow/
If we’ve missed an event, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Welcome to another wild Thursday!
