Duval County Democratic Party Chair Daniel Henry released the following statement in response to the announcement that President Trump will hold a rally Thursday in Jacksonville:
“Trump is such a deeply ineffective president that he’s patting himself on the back after nearly 200,000 Americans lost their lives and millions more lost their jobs — and now he thinks that he can come to Jacksonville and deliver even more empty promises about how the next four years will be better? We know better. Trump has shown us time and time again that he cannot manage a crisis without making things worse and we simply cannot afford another four years of chaos and uncertainty. None of the lies Trump is going to spew this Thursday will change the fact that Floridians are far worse off now than they were four years ago because Trump isn’t up for the job. Floridians deserve better and that’s why we’re flipping the Sunshine State and Duval county blue in November.”
Congressman Soto’s Statement on Trump’s Puerto Rico Announcement
In response to the White House’s announcement on aid to Puerto Rico after years of delay, Congressman Darren Soto released the following statement:
“A genuine question for the Trump administration: where have you been the last three years for Puerto Rico? President Trump presided over the deadliest natural disaster in modern American history, with nearly 3,000 Boricua dead. Since then, he has spent all this time blocking over half the $42B Congress allocated for disaster relief, treating Americans in Puerto Rico like second-class citizens, and acting like they should be grateful to get any help at all. Mr. President, we’re sick of the games, sick of the disrespect, and sick of being dragged along while you sit on relief funding owed to the island. I hope this funding is actually delivered, but time after time, Trump’s ‘policy’ announcements turn out to be nothing more than a headfake.
“Mr. President, we’re not buying what you’re selling. You are no friend to Puerto Rico. We need and deserve a reliable partner in the White House, and that’s exactly what we’ll get when we elect Joe Biden in November.
