Florida Democratic Party Response to Pence’s Clearwater Campaign Stop

4 mins read

In response to Mike Pence’s announced campaign stop in Clearwater, Terrie Rizzo, Florida Democratic Party Chair released the following statement:
“Mike Pence and Donald Trump are more concerned with campaigning than governing — that much is evident as the Vice President makes yet another political trip to Florida, the largest battleground state and a global coronavirus hotspot. The Trump campaign is looking to distract from the fact that 150,000 Americans have died on Trump’s watch and he still does not have a strategy to control the virus, but all they’re really doing is illustrating just how little they care about public health and safety.”

Legislator Call Notes

Thank you to everyone who hopped on Wednesday’s call! With less than 100 days until the general election, we are working harder than ever! We’ve been hitting the goals we set in early 2019: grow the electorate, hit volunteer and training goals, recruit and train a record number of candidates, and grow our digital volunteer team to be the most successful in the country. As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Please see the notes for our call below:
Leadership Blue:I hope you were all able to attend Leadership Blue – which was our first ever virtual convention. We had record attendance with 12 to 14 thousand viewers on our livestream each day, and 925 individuals attending the second-track trainings. If you missed out, please click on the linked GALA STREAM, our FRIDAY trainings, SATURDAY trainings, and SUNDAY trainings.
National Convention Update:As you have surely heard by now, our plans for a big National Convention have steered into the virtual world. The DNC is now planning for a virtual convention the week of August 17th, with no planned travel to Milwaukee. Please CLICK HERE to check out the DNC’s convention website. We will work with the Biden and Sanders team to make sure all the delegates get important information.
Comms Update: In the last few weeks, we have rolled out digital ads highlighting Ron DeSantis’ leadership failures during the coronavirus pandemic and the ludicrousness of the GOP’s now cancelled convention in Jacksonville – Our first three ads have gone viral with more than 2million views. CLICK HERE to watch our GOP convention commercial, and CLICK HERE to view our commercial addressing Gov. DeSantis’ COVID19 response.
Vote by mail: 1.3 million Democrats have enrolled or renewed their vote by mail enrollment since the March 17 Primary! Additionally, Florida Democrats now hold a 545, 533 voter vote-by-mail enrollment advantage over the Florida GOP. In 2016, Florida Democrats held a slim 8,800 edge in vote-by-mail. Please click here to download a seat-by-seat VBM enrollment breakdown!
FDP University:FDP University is our virtual training center. You will be able to find all of the trainings featured at Leadership Blue on this site which is being regularly updated for new resources for you and your campaign team. It’s not for the general public, only registered and verified democrats which we verify with VAN. If you have someone who you think should have access, please let me know and I will get them set up!

DemCast is an advocacy-based 501(c)4 nonprofit. We have made the decision to build a media site free of outside influence. There are no ads. We do not get paid for clicks. If you appreciate our content, please consider a small monthly donation.

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
