FDP Statement on Joe Biden Becoming Presumptive Nominee

1 min read

Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo congratulated Vice President Joe Biden on becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president of the United States and thanked Sen. Bernie Sanders for his tireless advocacy for working people:

“The Democratic primary has made our party stronger and more prepared to take on Donald Trump in the general election. I’m so grateful to each of the candidates, including Senator Sanders, for building grassroots enthusiasm and showing Americans that Democrats are the ones fighting for them. We are proud to stand with Joe Biden and will do everything we can to help him win Florida.

“Florida Democrats began building our campaign infrastructure last July. Today, we have more than 100 staff and 15,000 volunteers who are trained and ready to defeat Donald Trump and win with Joe Biden.”

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
