Urgent: Volunteer Center events cancelled; postcard packets still available

1 min read

Hello, friends. Yolo County released new guidelines regarding the Coronavirus this morning recommending that all non-essential large events be cancelled. You can read the full guidelines at https://www.yolocounty.org/health-human-services/adults/communicable-disease-investigation-and-control/novel-coronavirus-2019/coronavirus-guidance

With this in mind (and out of an abundance of caution), we are cancelling most events at the Volunteer Center for the near future, including phonebanks, postcard parties, and trainings. We do not take this decision lightly. We are of course disappointed, but want to prioritize the health of the community and help reduce the risk that our health care system will be overwhelmed at the peak of the spread of the virus.

We are working to develop remote training options for our events. If we get the go-ahead to reinstate small group activities like phonebanks and text training at the center, we will follow health guidelines to keep our volunteers as safe as possible.

We will continue to be open during drop-in hours for volunteers to both drop-off and pick up postcard packets for at-home activism. And we hope to soon offer you support in calling and texting voters from home.

We hope all of our friends and neighbors stay healthy.

Take care,

Sister District CA-3 & Indivisible Yolo Leadership Teams
