Ice Cream, Healthcare, and Freedom: Bus Tours Roll Across America to Get Out the Vote!

Bus Tours Get Out The Vote

Bus tours are a smart way to quickly mobilize voters across different locations!

“The Reproductive Freedom bus tour for instance will make at least 50 stops starting in Florida and visit all seven battleground states. The aim is to take the fight to small-town and neighborhood voters that big rallies will not reach. Spokespeople hop off and on the bus and include Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, actors, influencers, local radio hosts, podcasters and senators. Stops include colleges, health centers and beer halls in places like Allentown, population 126,000.” — Reuters

Bus tours use different themes to attract people: “MoveOn is partnering with Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, the co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, to raffle off free pints of an exclusive new flavor of Ben’s Best ice cream, celebrating Kamala Harris’s joyful run for office.” — MoveOn

Check the links below to see when these bus campaigns might be visiting your community. Read on to see how Nuns On The Bus use esri software to organize and promote their multi-city bus tour.

Organizing a multi-city bus tour

Organizing a multi-city campaign trip is hard. Schedules and venues may change. How do you make it easy for partners and attendees to get details about the stops and register? How do you deal with last minute changes to the stops, speakers or times?

Create a database of the events along with their location, time, speaker and other details.
Keeping the information in a database (or spreadsheet) lets you make changes quickly and add new stops.
Import the spreadsheet into ArcGIS Online and configure the stops so clicking on a venue reveals the details.
Make it easy for people to register for an event by including an RSVP link for each stop.
Add a route map so readers can see the campaign route to find the stop closest to them.Create a QR Code that links to your map and is easier to promote on social media and flyers.
