CALL WITH SISTER DISTRICT PROJECT TO WIN THE LEGISLATURES
No one needs reminding how much of a difference it makes to have Democrats in control of state governments instead of Republicans. The battle for our state legislatures is fierce, with the GOP targeting Democratic majorities in Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada and the Pennsylvania House while Democrats look to take control of both houses in Arizona, New Hampshire and newly ungerrymandered Wisconsin along with the Pennsylvania Senate, breaking GOP supermajorities in Kansas and North Carolina and making progress towards flipping Georgia. Helping lead the way on the ground is Sister District Project, which is kicking off its GOTV push this week. They’re holding national phonebanks to help Democratic legislative candidates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from now until the election! Let’s sign up to join them here.

POSTCARDS TO VOTERS IS WRITING FOR A NY CONGRESSIONAL ELECTION:
Postcards To Voters is now writing for another Congressional race: helping re-elect Pat Ryan in the NY 18^th. Becoming a postcard-writing volunteer involves sending a sample postcard to prove we’re not bots and then we can begin requesting addresses (each volunteer supplies the postcards and stamps). If we are already a registered volunteer, we can email, text, or Slack for addresses and instructions. If not, let’s get involved here!

DONATE POSTAL EXPENSES TO VOTE FORWARD SO MORE PEOPLE CAN WRITE LETTERS
We’ve mentioned Vote Forward several times as an effective way of writing personal letters to infrequent Democrat-leaning voters and urging them to vote in the upcoming election. While 35.3 million letters have been written since 2018, many potential volunteers have been unable to participate in the effort because they can’t cover the postal expenses. If we are able, let’s support the Vote Forward Free Stamps & Letter Kits program. And if we’d like to participate in this letter-writing campaign, we can sign up here.

TEACHERS: LET’S ENSURE THAT EVERY STUDENT LEAVES SCHOOL REGISTERED & READY TO VOTE
Working with educators, voter protection professionals, election officials, and others, the organization Lift Every Vote has developed clear, practical lessons that empower students to become voters. These lessons are available to teachers for free. Let’s download them if we’re teachers, and share them with the teachers in our lives if we’re parents or students. Here’s the link.

PHONE BANK FOR REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Nevadans are considering Question Six, which if passed would establish a state constitutional right to an abortion. If pro-choice voters turn out for this measure, we can secure this basic right in the Silver State… and maybe the presidential election too. MoveOn is hosting its next abortion access phone bank into Nevada at 8PM ET tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17 at 8 PM ET. We can sign up to help here and look for other opportunities to help this cause with Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom if we’re not available.
