“Democrats included a bigger federal child tax credit in 2021 in the American Rescue Plan to fight child poverty. Eligible families received up to $300 a month for each child under the age of 6 and up to $250 for older ones.

Chuck Grassley, R-Nebraska explained that he couldn’t support the tax-credit extension, which benefits an estimated 16 million U.S. children, because “passing a tax bill that makes Democrats look good, mailing out checks before the election, means a Democratic President could be re-elected.” – Augusta Free Press (excerpts)
