Catching Up ☀️🇺🇸

Missouri Democrats have been BUSY campaigning across the state this summer! Check out some views from the trail:

After being exposed in a complaint alleging he committed “fraud and dishonesty” for his campaign’s central claim that he is an engineer despite not having a license, Republican candidate for governor and Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s new tactic is advocating for the elimination of the licensing process for engineers, a completely dangerous suggestion that could potentially create countless unsafe hazards.

During last night’s GOP primary debate, when asked about the controversy, Ashcroft claimed: “I’m an engineer, but it’s none of the government’s business. We need to get rid of this red tape. We need to allow people to live their lives the way they see fit, instead of kowtowing to faceless bureaucrats.”

In addition to wanting to dismantle the engineering profession, Ashcroft has also called for the removal of benefits for veterans. This comes after Ashcroft was scorched in a new op-ed from an actual professional engineer in the Missouri Times, who outlined the danger and potential criminality of Ashcroft’s false claims, stating: “Jay Ashcroft’s dishonesty not only smears the engineering profession but also endangers the public and the public trust for our occupation,” and that “if someone falsely claims to be an Engineer, as Jay Ashcroft has repeatedly done, it is a direct violation of our Constitution. Jay Ashcroft swore an oath to uphold the Missouri Constitution, and he violates that oath every time he falsely claims to be an Engineer.”

“Jay Ashcroft wants the government to stay out of his lies about being an engineer and giving veterans’ benefits, but is all for forcing survivors to carry their rapist’s baby,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “As Ashcroft continues to lag in every poll and struggles with fundraising, he’s desperate, doing and saying anything to win over the most extreme members of his party, even by endorsing a policy overhaul that would put Missouri families in danger. Ashcroft and his fellow Republican candidates in this primary continue to prove they are too dangerous and extreme to be Missouri’s next governor.” Read More

🇺🇸 WANT TO HELP REGISTER VOTERS? 🇺🇸

Here Is How You Can Register Voters ⬇️

Voter Education

Providing an unregistered voter with the information they may not have previously had constitutes voter education.

QR Codes & Links

Providing an unregistered voter with a link to or a QR code they can scan with their personal phone or tablet or they can scan with a provided touch screen device to complete their registration themselves does not constitute a solicitation and does not trigger a chain of custody issue with a voter registration application.

Language and Presentation

To ensure any voter registration effort remains compliant in the voter education lane, voter registration communications will be separated from any other program communications. This will be accomplished as simply as presenting a separate page to an unregistered voter after one learns the voter is unregistered, for example.

Suggested Language

“Did you know that you can register to vote online in seconds using a touch screen? Here is a Link/ QR Code if you’d like to register now.”

Let me be clear: violent political acts and rhetoric have no place in America.

Our hearts go out to all the victims and their families, and we express our deep thanks to the Secret Service and related law enforcement for their prompt response.

This violence undermines the fundamental conditions necessary for our democracy to function.

This is a time for leaders of all parties to resolve to bridge our deep and dangerous divisions, and recommit ourselves to maintaining a democracy of, for, and by the people.

Add your name here to join me in denouncing political violence of all kinds. We must come together to strengthen our democracy.

Political violence threatens peaceful debate and is something that often occurs in authoritarian countries. Here in America, we have a process for coming together, sharing our views, and reaching a consensus.

No part of that should involve violence – a lesson that the Supreme Court should take seriously mere weeks after making a ruling that could give any president immunity and suggested no clear consequences for using government resources to go after your political opponents.

Sign here to join me in standing against political violence.

Onward,

Russ
