There Are None So Blind as Those Who Will Not See — Jeremiah 5:21

And so it is with Republicans ready to deny climate change causing hurricanes for cash. “The Fossil Fuel Industry Is Paying the GOP Handsomely to Deny Climate Change. Republican super PACs in the House and Senate raked in major donations from the fossil fuel industry this year. Proving to be money well spent, GOP lawmakers are ramping up a campaign of outright climate denial.” — Jacobin

Climate change denial has become part of the Republican gospel in Texas… Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, conveniently oblivious to the mountains of scientific evidence that people are slowly but surely turning the planet into a scorching greenhouse, isn’t sure if he believes in climate change. “I’ll leave it in the hands of God … He’s handled our climate pretty well for a long time.” — Austin American Statesman

Will gut pollution regulations for cash

“Trump asked oil industry executives last month to donate $1 billion to aid his campaign reported by The Washington Post… The oil industry has a long list of policy actions it would want Trump to take, including dismantling parts of President Joe Biden’s green agenda and rolling back pollution regulations that threaten to crimp their profits.” — Politico

“Stay safe & avoid high water as the hurricane makes landfall.” — Ted Cruz. Critics reminded Cruz of February 2021 when he ditched his state for Cancun, Mexico, during a record cold snap and winter storm that killed 246 Texans. “Instead of storm warnings, Texas sends out a text whenever Ted goes to the airport” “Cancun Ted says what?” — HuffPost

Follow the money behind MAGA Climate Change denials

“Republican lawmakers began adding fine print to congressional spending bills that would hobble the federal government’s efforts to combat climate change. The Congressional Leadership Fund, which backs GOP House candidates, reported receiving more than $950,000 from oil and gas firms and executives during the first half of the year. The donors included top executives at the firms Energy Transfer Partners, United Refining Company, and Midland Energy, whose CEO, Syed Javaid Anwar, contributed $125,000.

The Congressional Leadership Fund has hauled in more than $19 million so far this year. The group’s communications director boasted that the combined haul with its dark money arm, the American Action Network, is significantly outpacing GOP fundraising at this point in the last election cycle. The Senate GOP’s super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, has received $2.8 million this year from just three fossil fuel firms: Occidental Petroleum Corporation, whose largest shareholder is billionaire investor Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Corporation; Denver-based Anschutz Exploration Corporation; and Texas-based refiner Valero Energy Corporation.” — Jacobin
